Absurd Posted September 10, 2002 Share Posted September 10, 2002 I prefer headphones and here's why: With the latest 3D algorithms for headphones - 3D sound locations are more distinct. A person hear can much more and clearer with headphones. I have Klipsch Pro Media 5.1's and Sennheiser 580's with an amp. Playing games with both I find the 3D directional better with headphones, and I can hear even the most minute sounds - whereas with speakers things aren't quite as clear and neither is the 3D. To get the quality of sound in speakers compared to a decent pair of $200 - $300 headphones, you would have to spend a good $1000 +. I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy in my system. In many games hearing something before the other person first, can put you at a great advantage - and it seems headphones are a must for online play.
