Removing jan vest?

I am wanting to do a women skin using the jan model but how do u get rid of the vest without making her invisible? Thanks

this really needs to be put into a faq

 

make a .skin file with these lines:

surfOff	"torso_vest hips_chaps torso_computer head_goggles torso_comp hips_belt"
surfOn	"torso_augment_off hips_augment_off hips_torso_off"

 

then put it in the model folder.

 

note this will not work for the SP player, just MP

I put the line in and now the vest is still there but its gots that shader less black grid all over the skin. U know how to fix that? Thanks

yeah, just pasting those lines as-is should work, just have those two lines, nothing else in it

So i don't put it in the same skin file as the one i put the directorys for the skin in so if i've to put it in a totally different skin file what should i call it? And when i put it in the same skin file jk2 crashed. Until i got rid of speech marks then it did that shaderless grid.
