WolfmanNCSU
I posted this message at another forum and was recommended that I browse around here a bit. Hey Rhett! Ok, this morning I gave in an bought an XBox. I have been a long time PC gamer for ages, and this is the first console that I have purchased since the 8 bit Nintendo and the Atari. I decided that it is time that I move to the other side a bit for gaming. Right now all I have is the unit itself, the one controler, the DVD combo (I needed a DVD player), and Halo. I am looking forward to start playing games from the console. Its a really nice machine and I must say that I am very impressed. However, I doubt that this will ever beat a good ole PC game. I still love them a lot, but I thought I would give it try and have fun with it. I liked the system specs when compared to the other choices personally. The biggest thing I was afraid of is that I would not like the change from a long time PC Gamer to the console style games. I never really noticed until now the big difference. Anyway, what do you guys recommmend. I doubt that I go and add anything else before xmas since this alone was a big enough purchase. Some games look really cool and the new sports games are coming out now. I just got Madden 03, but it was for the PC and I think I would rather get something else rather than a game I already have on PC. I an definitly grabbing NCAA football (and basketball if it come out the the xbox) sometime. I saw "Obi Wan" used for $30 and I was not sure if it was any good. I knew about how much Halo rocked, so that is the game that I grabbed to start with and I will add on from there I guess.
Boba Rhett
Avoid Obi-Wan at all costs. ALL costs. It is truly one of the biggest, steamiest piles of poo I've ever seen. Truly pathetic. Two must get's in my book are, 1. Halo. Even if you're not a huge fps fan, you'll love this game. 2. Buffy The Vampire Slayer. There's also a ton of great games coming out this fall for it. 1. Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb 2. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (book based) 3. Unreal Championship 4. James Bond 007: NightFire 5. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 6. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Actually more like Feb 2003 ) 7. Time Splitters 2 And Many more!
Taos
Like Rhett said, avoid Obi-Wan at all costs!! I made the mistake, let's just say it is "a little repetative....." No need to recommend Halo, sweet game of course!! There's one more new game you might want to rent and check out....it's called Dead to Rights, it looks really killer. I don't have it myself, but I plan on renting it this coming weekend And Wolfman, welcome back to the "Darkside." I can't wait for Knights of the Old Republic.....have you guys seen the new screenshots??? Double bladed lightsabers and two saber combat action!!! Gonna kick butt! Taos
Well, I traded in my PS2 to get an Xbox!!! The graphics and gameplay are better with the Xbox imo.. It might not have as many games out yet.....but it is a new system and is only a matter of time before more games are out. The games they do have coming out are going to be amazing (see list above), The games out now are pretty good too!! I do not regret my decision at all. WolfmanNCSU
Cool, thanks for the info guys. I love my new system. I can't wait to get more into it. I did not know that I would like it so much. I have only played around on it a bit and log enought to beat the first 2 levels of Halo. Its a very impressive game graphically speaking and interface wise. The monsters are not brain surgeons, but they can do some damage in numbers that's for sure. I have been so damn busy, I want to play more but I have so much stuff demanding my time that I have very little free time. I have not tried the DVD playback on it yet, but other that that, its all good. Just an hour here and an hour there. I did manage to get my girlfriend excited about the XBox. She is not a gamer of any kind, but wants to actually play games on this thing. I guess I am going to need that second controler after all. She is learning to play Halo too, since its the only thing I have to play on it. She wants to grab some RPG's or something for the box. Thanks again for the advice. Boba Rhett
She may enjoy Morrowind then. She also may like the smaller version of the Xbox controller. I prefer the large one myself but smaller people tend to prefer the other. Try Halo Co-op with her! It rocks so hard it hurts.
