Jrob Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 This goes to all of you great coders, modelers, and skinners out there. Is there any way someone could deflect an opponent's saber throw and when it is on the groud you could forcepull it to u and use it against them. I don't know just thought I would throw that idea at u. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Think outside of the Box
Covax Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 At first I'd say NO but then when I think about it we can already do that with guns can't we? The only TRICK though is that you'd be 'stuck' with your own lightsaber. If your enemy, say, as a Dooku hilt with a red blade you'd grab it and end up with Kyle's hilt and a blue blade... It would be cool for a scripted sequnce though, like in the original Jedi Knight where Kyle takes up Yun's saber.
Tchouky Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 you're wrong covax... if you create a stealing lightsaber code you could easily change the hilt of the player who stole the hilt.... and off course you can alter the client's saber color too...
Jrob Posted September 26, 2002 Author Posted September 26, 2002 Tchouchy are u willing to give it a try. I dont believe im up to the challange.
Covax Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 Ahh.. OK.. I always thought that the saber was bound to force powers... Hey! What am I doing posting in the coding forum?? *tries to sneek away with a measure of dignity*
Dest Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 just add a touch function for the fallen saber
Daskers Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 Would it be possible for you to use the dropped saber as a second saber, like Anakin in episode 2?
Kyle098 Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 to all those people asking is it possible to..... well the answer is in coding everything is possible in coding becasuse inlike real life you just have to code it. so the real question should be how hard would it be.
Tchouky Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 no you can't do everything in a jk2 mod .... there are some limitations...
Kyle098 Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 tchouky, what do u mean there are some limitations,if the code doesnt let you do somethingjust because of th way it is built Technacly you can rewrite the whole oced, again it would be extremely tedious and hard but possible.
Covax Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Yea.. like I said before, nothing is outright impossible, just dificult to the point of being impractical. You could always form your own company, get the Quake engine and build your own game... .. but you won't. Still, by us asking the questions theres a chance that eventually such things can be done in a game. Say, for example Lucasarts comissions a JKII expantion they would take all these ideas seriously. We didn't get 'gimmick' sabers before but I'd bet you my shirt that the next Jedi Knight game will have multiple melle weapons/options. (to be fair Knights of the Old Republic doesn't count)
Tchouky Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 well covax the stealing lightsabers could be easily added .... Kyle098 you are limited with the use of the existing syscalls ... and can't change these.... and there are models limitations and such things which are in the exe source code ....
rut-wa jodar Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 If anyone can make saber stealing possible Tchouky or Dest can ( the true Mod Geniuses).
razorace Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 What would be the point if taking another saber just changes the one in your hand?
Deetox187 Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 He wouldn't be totally defenseless, could still use force powers and guns..
Deetox187 Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Use a gun or kick the guy to death, there are always options.
Tchouky Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 if he uses absorb you've wasted force points and he may hit you
razorace Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 I don't think it's a good idea unless you add a way to truely defend yourself and get your saber back. Obi-wan was still a good match for Jango even without his saber.
