boredboy
okay, i found out how to do so, but when i do, the torso's jan's original one, except for the arms, those are the new ones i made. how do i get the rest of the torso to be the new one i made? Arfong
So how did you do it? I know how to turn off belts ect in 'ModView' but they're still on in-game
boredboy
make a .surf file with these lines: code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------surfOff "torso_vest hips_chaps torso_computer head_goggles torso_comp hips_belt" surfOn "torso_augment_off hips_augment_off hips_torso_off"
boredboy
that wasn't very clear, sorry: surfOff "torso_vest hips_chaps torso_computer head_goggles torso_comp hips_belt" surfOn "torso_augment_off hips_augment_off hips_torso_off" put this in, for example, a .surf file named model_default.surf a surf file is just a txt file which you rename. but this didn't do everything it needed to do, i only got jan's orriginal torso, not the enw one i made. boredboy
yeah, i placed it in there, and jan's vest was gone, which is good. but instead of showing the new skin i made on her torso, it showed the old one, and i don't know why... jp-30
Save the hassle and use Modview to generate the surf file; Once the model is looking how you want him in Modview, go to the file menu, and select "Write Script". Click through the dialogue box so that model.mvs is saved in your skin's directory. Next time you open modview to view this model don't open the model.glm file (as you'll get the old model), but open the model.mvs file, and all the correct surfaces will be on. Londo Mollari
Has anyone figured out how to nix the vest, chaps, and goggles for a sp conversion of jan. Tried the default.surf thing and model view but the vest still shows up when I try to make jan the player Thanks
Londo Mollari
Well with the no draw command I finally got the vest and chaps off the model but no matter what I do the torso_augment_off, hips_augment_off, hips_torso_off, surfaces don't show up on the player model. They show in the cutscenes and if I spawn the player model...........any ideas? Thanks
SettingShadow
Then you have to use .surf files.
Londo Mollari
Tried that used surfOn "torso_augment_off hips_augment_off hips_torso_off" in surf file tried "model ideal model mvs using modview. Nothing seems to work Anyone have a Jan model.glm with the vest belt and chaps removed? Thanks
starunner
Actually, I think that the .surf files are for multiplayer only. In Single player, you can turn surfaces off and on in the npc files. Check out npcs.cfg (in assetts0.pk3) to see what I mean.
