Modeling hands?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading the modeling tutorials around there, and I got everything down so far. That includes the head (some of it), hair, clothing, legs, feet, etc...but when I get to hands, I can't seem to extrude/form them right. Does anyone have any tutorials for me to look at where I can see how to properly model hands?

Go to some cg sites like insidecg.com look around the forums at wireframe shots and try and figure it out. Or load up the raven model and look at the wireframe on those.

Start with a cube with 4/5 sections, I would recommend modelling the hand in the relaxed position.

thanks. the tutorial I was reading said to extrude a face out to create a thumb, but when I do that it comes out all wierd o_0.

I think I'll just start over, since the model I was making is supposed to be wearing a shirt and not just muscle dude. ^_^

Also, mistake on the feet. I can't seem to get them rounded. They end up looking really wierd o_0. Here's a screenshot:

I think I'm going to do the head over (not pictured) because I messed it up real bad. I was trying to put certain styles in but it kept mirroring it.

EDIT: Eep. Sorry, no screenshot my ISP's website is down.

Might try modelling the thumb seperate and attaching it later...or cut a triangle out on the the side of a cube and extrude that out, just remember to cut out the palm muscle that attaches to the thumb so it doesn't look flat.

are you making feet with toes? or shoes? Remember reference pics are your friends, model over them as guidelines.
