Psynex
I just got it last night and had to hunt to find out what was different. You'd think that they'd put that stuff on the main page along with the flashy signs pointing to the new version. But this is all they had mentioned. 1 - New material editor which more closely resembles the material editor in Max. It's actually much better, though not 100% accurate. It has one preview window, but opens instantly. I noticed in the older version the material editor took a second or two to actually appear. The new one prompts you for which type of material you want to create when you make a new one too; standard, or multi-sub. 2. New export support for Discreet's Plasma (3D web authoring tool) My only problem here is I didn't see a low-end version for Plasma. So what good is a file type to us that can't purchase Plasma? 3. new registration system that allows you to use gmax at home and at work. (Like we couldn't before). I'm guessing it's more like an install key now. It also seems to run a bit smoother now. Could just be my bad perception.
