Joysticks

Alright then fellow pilots, here's the deal, my trusty old joystick has died and gone to the electronic heaven in the sky.

I now need to get a new joystick, one WITH a twisty bit, in technical terms, extremly handy for setting up on capital ships and keeping my hide alive in multi-player. Now being a freespace 2 fan as well, (we should have them make a new XWing game!) i need at least 6 buttons, ones which don't work occasionally or if the moon is in the right position, a throtlle that is smooth and a hat stick

So post your reccomendations up, make and model, how it feels, and how long it has lasted you for

Cheers

Diamond Dave out!

I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D complete with:

8-way hat swith;

Twist handle for precise rudder control;

Versatile frip for flexible hand comfort;

Rapid fire trigger + 6 programmable buttons;

High-precision throttle.

However, NO forcefeedback. (There is an identical one WITH FF for about £10 more)

Must have had it for about a year now - hasn't failed me once, although, it seems to me that it lacks a little sensitivity for small movements - so maybe not as precise as others. It has a nice stable base and it's comfortable to use so overall I can't fault it, and it can be yours for a mere £29.99 (from PCWorld).

But bare in mind that the modern age is filled with new and wonderful technology available for anyone with the right coloured paper :)

Hey, I'd have to go with the Microsoft Force Feedback 2. It's what I have. It's isn't spring loaded, I like that, you have to plug it into the wall and it uses the machinery inside to keep it upright. This way it takes longer to wear out. Another cool feature is that it vibrates and stuff when you get hit or when you shoot.

Edit:

To the guy above me-the only thing I can think of is if you have windows XP. I had an older usb microsoft joystick. It stopped working when I got XP, That's why I got the one I have now.
