xMod Feature Overview

Recommended Posts

For those of you that have not experienced our mod, I would suggest checking it out. We included a large number of features that we saw jk2 needed, as well as, a number of bug fixes.

Current Features in v1.0.0:

==> Several ways to nerf the omnipresent throw/pull

==> A fix for the invisible saber bug

==> Team locking, and automatic moving of authorized users (your clan) to one team

==> Ability to disable health or shield pickups

==> Many different handlings of /kill, one of which gives the kill to the person who deserves it

==> Text filtering for profanity, racial slurs, etc...

==> Ability to push and pull items

==> Admin commands to slay, kick, slap, sleep, trip, freeze, teleport, and more

==> Bind and Gate (ala Everquest) - useful for tryouts and practices

==> Ability to 'cordon off' map bugs (red side on Yavin, roofs on Streets)

==> Quick chat replacements such as #health, #armor, #force

New features Planned for 1.1.0:

==> Client number AND name matching for all admin commands (ie. x_cfreeze =x=mast)

==> gc auth subadminpassword to give players access to the subadmin commands (ie. sc freeze bob)

==> Ability to enable and disable all sub admin commands individually via a single variable

==> A new fancy death animation for getting kicked in the face (victim does a back flip)

==> Ability to turn off the 'look at attacker upon death' function currently in the game.

==> Team join quotes (placed in a file called authquotes.txt) say a quote for either authed people or just everyone when they join a team other then spectator

==> Bug fixes for x_clist to crop long names and send more then one client at a time to prevent loss of data.

==> Client's IP now stays in x_clist when the map changes

==> Repaired a bug in x_cmute to keep the player muted even when they die

==> Introduced zone files and the ability to display your text location, which can be defined by the server admin, in teamsay (ala RTCW - (=X=Master HeX): (bridge) I need help!)

==> Added the ability to use #loc or #location as quick chat replacements if the server allows it.

==> Other minor bug fixes in the current commands and MUCH more.

xMod was developed for saber only CTF, however, a number of the features and bug fixes can be used in other gametypes. If you have any suggestions for new features or bug fixes please feel free to check out our site at: xmod.cat5camp.com or post here. We are always looking for the input from admins and players alike.

We have completed our first test with the server IRC bot. Basically we have developed a small app for servers (currently only linux ones) that will sit in the background and serve chat, stats, and rcon to an irc channel. The program will require that you have xmod installed and the ability to access your servers log files. When I get a list of features from Windninja I will post them up here.

====================================

In other news we are working on .zon file support for all of the default CTF maps. If you are interested in helping out with some of the FFA maps or 3rd party simply follow the file format below.

.zon file format: ctf_ns_streets.zon

"zone name"[x1, y1, z1],[x2, y2, z2]

"^4Sniper Platform"[x1, y1, z1],[x2, y2, z2]

and so on...

Basically xyz1 is the origin (gc origin) of a single point of a box. The xyz2 is the origin of the opposite corner of the box. Together they make an invisible box or zone. By default xmod will show (lost) in teamsay, when zones are enabled, if the client isn't inside one of these boxes. So to show things like (Sniper Platform) you must make a bunch of zones and include them in the .zon file which is placed in the maps directory.

The zones are checked in order from top to bottom. If you have two zones that overlap the first one in the list will be shown. So if you would like a general zone that covers the entire red base(ie. "red base") place it at the end of the file. Things like "^1Flag Platform" should be at the start of the file.

Lastly if you have no idea what I'm talking about.. just ignore this section. :p

=====================================

Any zone files can be placed in our forums and we will make sure the correct person receives credit.

What exactly are you gun people looking for? The last time I played a gun game was.... hmmm..... 1.03. Perhaps a list of bugs I should look at, or features you would like to see. Keep in mind that this is only a server mod, so anything related to changing the client is impossible. There are ways to 'repair' bugs via the server but it is usually a pain.
