RoguePhotonic
I have an odd lag issue with the game when I do things like stick a saber in a wall and the game drops to like 2FPS....when you swing it there is a pause same with guns if you shoot it pauses.....though only for me....none of this stuff lags when the AI does it.....I'm not sure what causes it...when I have formatted and reloaded window's the game runs fine for awhile then starts this again and nothing I have tried will fix it but reloading the system again.....the problem is only in single player...multi runs normal........what could be causing this?..... I've tried killing everything running in the background, turning all settings in game to minimum, defragging, many reinstalls and trying different versions with the patch's...I thought maybe something I do causes this but I ran the game fine once and like 2 days later tried again and had this problem again and I hadn't done anything....... I don't know if it's right or not but in the console it still says 1.03 even though I have 1.04 installed..... my system: P4 1.7ghz geforce 3 TI500 512MB ram window's XP and of course all my drivers and stuff are up to date

Windu
For some reason the moment I fire a weapon the game does a split second pause, same thing when I have the lightsaber and I slash at an object. I didn't notice this problem until I upgraded to a Geforce 4 Ti4600. This problem is only on the SP game. MP runs great. My System Specs: Gigabyte GA-7DX mobo Windows XP w/SP1 1.4 GHz Athlon Thunderbird 120 Gig HD 512mb DDR2100 Geforce 4 Ti4600 Sound Blaster Live 5.
Hekx
Set all your video settings to low, and see if it still happens. Make sure you have EAX disabled (under sound) Do any other games run poorly or without any problems? Make sure you've updated the latest video card drivers software and the latest DirectX. If it's just SP, you might want to delete the jk2sp.cfg file (make a backup first) and redo all the controls / binds and settings. There could be a wrong set command which is effecting the game. I doubt it would be a hardware problem
Windu
I set all video settings to the lowest available setting and deleted the jk2config.cfg file and I still have the split second pausing when firing. I havent played the SP game since it came out. The only change I've done was upgrade my video card from a Geforce 3 to a Geforce 4 Ti4600. I read this that blamed Windows XP SP1 for some SP problems. I have so far uninstalled the game, deleted the Lucas Arts folder and re-installed the game. Still nothing.........

db6
<rant> The reason you do not get many replies here is because this forum is meant to be for RavenSoft to recieve feedback/bug/enhancement reports about the game, not for Technical Help. If you have a problem this odd, it might be something specific to your computer, and as you mentioned yourself, you've experience some odd problems in other games as well. The best place to get help in the future is the Technical Help Forum, you'll get much more accurate and faster responses there! </rant> As for your problem, I have experienced something similar with Windows ME (not with XP, but the cause might have similar roots). Just to check, when you go to the Device manager (Control Panel -> System -> Click on the "Hardware Tab" -> Then Click on the "Device Manager" button) do you find any yellow "!" marks? I had one in there that pretained to my motherboard, and after I downloaded and installed the latest drivers, it went away and my computer finally had no problems running anything, so you might want to check for these things. Again, if that doesn't work for you, you might want to check the Technical Help Forum. More people visit that Forum!!!! Good Luck
RoguePhotonic
No I always make sure everything is installed right and running....but I didn't know I just saw that people were posting problems here so:confused: ...
Windu
EAX is disabled. Why would multiplayer run fine and not single player?? I'm not getting any errors or crashes on single player either. All other games I have are running fine on both SP and MP. Here is a short list of my games: Battle Field 1942 Unreal Tournament 2003 No One Lives Forever 2 Earth and Beyond Medal Of Honor and MOH Spearhead and about 15 other games installed.... Oh, one last thing. I installed Direct Play 8.2 which came with DirectX 8.2 I don't know if this could be the cause...
daveodeth
i get the same problem and altering options does nothing, i have a suspicion it may be the new Nvidia drivers try the older ones.
Hekx
I've had problems with the recent NVidia drivers, so I've gone back to the previous ones. (4.13.01.3082) which seem to have increased the graphics slightly; and I haven't had ant serious gaming / display problems since.
Dark
Download the latest NVIDIA drivers. I had the same kind of problem with Unreal Tournament 2003. It was my NVIDIA drivers. However I only use a GF 2 ti-200 32M AGP. Hope it works out for ya.
Windu
My UT 2003 runs great. I've tried v28.84 thru v41.09 with no change in problem. I'm building a new game system and I think I'm just going to wait and see how the SP game runs on it. I have a feeling the SP game is conflicting with something I have installed. How could the MP game run fine and not SP???? New system specs are: No case yet (looking for the right one) Asus A7N8X (ordered and waiting) AMD XP 2700+ (have) ATI 9700 Pro (have) Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum (ordered and waiting) 1024mb DDR 400 (have) 200 Gig Western Digital HD (have) Window XP Pro (have)

db6
Could it be some program that you installed that is causing this? Or maybe even a bad driver update. Anyway, if you want, you can do an uninstall of the game then clean up the registery using RegClean (http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html?tag=lst-0-1). Again, you might be betteroff checking the Tech Help Forum...
RoguePhotonic
Already have reg cleaner.....I was thinkin the same thing maybe something I installed but no way of knowing what......since I have a long history of game problems it's left me with knowing allot about fixing em....but this has left me so ..... db6
Windu has the exact same problem, guess you're not alone afterall!!!! You might want to try some of the sugesstions there, though it didn't work for him.... It seems many people think that it was something they installed, but until someone reloads their system and only installs Jedi Outcast after that without any other programs, we may never be sure. On the other hand, one of your .pk3 files might be corrupt (may be modified by a program or windows just crashed and it corrupted the file). Try replacing the .pk3's with the ones directly from the CD. [edit] btw, do you have any mod's installed? they might be messing up single player eventhough they might be for Multiplayer, any mod's you may have (just remove the mod .pk3's from the base folder) and that might fix the problem. db6
This Thread is about the exact same topic, maybe one of the moderators would be kind enough to merge them so people would be able to see all of the sugessions???
RoguePhotonic
I don't know though because of how I played the game fine then about 3 days later I played and had this problem...I don't remember installing anything..... nope though no mods.....and if my file was corrupt then you would think the game would run fine after a reinstall..... RoguePhotonic
OMG....the game is running fine.....FINE!!!!!.........I got a new sound card from SBlive 5.1 platinum to SBlive audigy 2 platinum and I ran the game and I noticed it was allot smoother than it was before but still lagging...but now it's running normal.....I do have most of my stuff shut down in the background so i'll need to test more to see if it's not because of something I closed..... db6
Interesting, I guess it was the sound card driver...... So who are we supposed to blame for this: Raven or Creative (or maybe even Microsoft since the game is running on XP)???? BTW, congradulations RoguePhotonic !!! I guess you got your Chrismas Gift early!!!!
