I already have my ticket pre booked. Gets released Boxing Day in Australia.

Has anyone thought the cinema preview is dodgy? I mean imagine if you haven't read the book and you think Gandalf is dead only to see him riding around on horse back in the preview. So now happy. Of course in true cinema form if you don't see a body he/she ain't dead

I also think the trailer was a little bit of a spoiler. It's a shame you see Gandalf. I know many ppl have told other ppl that had no idea that Gandalf would comeback, but I mean not everyone knows. Look at my friends father: He didn't know anything about The Two Towes. Then he goes on James Bond and see this trailer. I guess he got quite disapointed. But the movie is great!

I know that reminds me of a DBZ episode:

"Will he ever get back to normal??"

"Next Time on DBZ , he gets his normal body back" or something like that :D

But I knew Gandalf would come back, but they should've just kept it a mild "surprise"

Meh I havent any tickets, but I will go to the theather today on the first day it's out and get some tickets neways. :D What? WHAT?? :D :D :D :D :D :D

i'm not that much of a hardcore fan so i'll go and see it on saturday. and i did know abhout gandalf even though i didn't read the books and it was before some smartass told me (the same smartass who told me the ending to the sixth sense, that would have eben soo much better if he hadn't said that). i knew about gandalf because he played a very important part in the hobbit (although a short one, a very important one) adn i just guessed that he'd play an even more important one in monkey island, he is the sort of guid, mentor or narrator, it would be like yoda dieing in episode one, it's just not concievable to have the main characters mentor not be in the story after the first bit. so at the point where he say Fly you fools and then let go, i knew he didn't die (although a very cool way to die).

now, if he were to die in say ROTK, or even at the end of TTT, i would accept that, but it's not a good story if he dies before anything important happens.

but don't tell me because i haven't read the books and so don't know what's gonna happen.

One word (oh, alright, an acronym for 7 words): roflmao. So that's Herman's real identity...

I would recommend that anyone go and see The Two Towers...it's even better than the first, although the second hour was a bit boring.

Legolas rules, and so does Aragorn, but Gimli rules even more.

just saw it today, and wow. for those who haven't seen it, take the fellowship of the ring, mulitply it by about ten thousand, and you'll have something that's close to what this movie is, it's simply great.

At the end, with the huge battle scene on the fortress, there is one point where i think one of the men gets thrown off of the tower and falls to his death (unimportant charcter). when he fell, he made a very familiar sound, one first heard in starwars over thirty years ago, and used over and over again in counless movies. is it me, or is that scream patented, it's even in the star wars games and stuff, it's a trademark of screams.

also, someone said that they didn't like the last hour for some reason. personally, it was the middle hour that was slightly boring, but the beginning and the end were magnificant. all gimlis bit were funny.

and finally, what was it called the two towers, what two towers are they referring to?

In answer to Neil's question, "What do the two towers refer to?"

Since answering this question requires no spoilers, I put them plainly here:

The Two Towers refer to the two towers occupaied by the wizard Saruman and the dark lord Sauron. We see them throughout the movie.

The tower of Isengard (called Orthanc, IIRC) is the one in which Saruman resides. We saw this in The Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf went to consult with Saruman.

The tower of Mordor (called Barad-dúr) is the tower of Sauron, who has been described as a "lid-less eye, wreathed in flame"--from atop Barad-dúr, Sauron is ever watchful of middle-earth, in search of his One Ring, and sending out his own armies against the forces of middle earth.

I agree with Natty and Isak--the trailer gave too much away. When you read the book, you absolutely thought that Gandalf was dead, as well we should have thought after watching the first movie. The trailer told us plainly that he was (1) alive, and (2) exactly how Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas meets him again.

Nobody would have wondered at the fate of Merry and Pippin as Treebeard showed them to the White Wizard, because they saw plainly in the trailer that Gandalf returned dressed in white.

While it's true that many people have read the book and already know such developments, there are plenty more who have not read the book who will watch the movie, and the trailer definately ruined that aspect of it.

Since Gandalf does come dressed back in white does that mean he's more important now?

At least in the 2Towers I won't have to put up with usless shots of the ring like in Fellowship. I was so bored once I watched Fellowship on DVD and counted how many times I saw the ring... I think I missed a few but I did count something like 78shots

BRB gonna see if I can find the email I sent my freind about it

AHA found it

Well I just watched Lord of the Rings and counted how many times

there was

a closeup of the ring. In total I counted 86 times, which were divided

into

different categories

Table- 15

Fiddled With- 10

Misc Shots- 27

Looked At- 6

Held In Hand- 23

On Finger- 5

Misc shots included the 10 or so shots that you have of the ring

laying on the floor after Bilbo leaves and the shots of the envelope implying that the ring is inside the envelope and the 20times we saw whats his name's finger

getting chopped off with the finger flying through the air and so on and so forth

Anyways like I said I probably missed a few and who knows what the tally could have been if I had watched the extended version of Fellowship on DVD- which most likely it's a good thing we don't have the extended version

the rinf here isn't just an object, but it is a direct character,a nd the main charcter at that. just because it's an inanimate object doesn't mean it's not important.

I The Two Towers, Gollum was schitsophrenic (sp?) one personality being Smeagle and the other being Gollum. Now Smeagle turned into Gollum because of the rings effect and involvement in his life which made him go bad. so some may say that the gollum side of him, the one he is trying to fight and send away, may be the ring talking to him. one brilliant scene by the way, kinda reminds me of that pixar short of the old man playing chess against himself, but more serious.

Also, the ring contains the essence of Sauron, the one that that could let him manifest again. some may say that it is sauron himself, trapped inside theer after his fingers were cut off. so the ring features quite a lot in the movie as it is the main charchetr in the movie, as was Bilbo in The Hobbit.

but by the way, if you saw the extended version of the lord of the rings, you could guess that it would feature even more. Such a small inanimate object gets a higer role in the movie than Christopher Lee, Elijah Wood or Ian McKellen.

I think some of the ring shots were totally un necesarry. Especially when it was on the floor in Bilbo's house. Oh and zooming in on the envelope implying that the ring was inside the envelope.

Some of those shots were so un needed, we knew the movie was about the stupid ring, we didn't need to be reminded with usless shots all the time

I't was shot at two different angles, they just kept cutting from agle to angle to make it portray two differeen shots. this in my opinion was very good as it portrays how Smeagle and Gollum are two different people, not just one crazy creature. this i think was very well done. but people have different opinions about everything so i'm not one to judge or convert.

I first thought it was 2 different persons, not just personalities, because it was shot in 2 different angels.

You could say that. The white color basically signifies that he is now the leader of his order (the wizards), whereas before, that title belonged to Saruman.
