JEDI_MASTA
Gary, other lucaarts staff, THIS IS A CHALLENGE. I would like to see a great game for SWGB2 (as im sure all of us would), but we must first break down what makes a great game. I personally think that a great RTS consists of 3 parts. Grafix, Playability, and Overall system of play. In concern of grafix, this is pretty self explanatory, This is that we(the fans) would like to see a good looking game, this implies a nice clean interface with beautiful grafix, but most of all suited to that of an RTS. Playability, i could probably talk about this forever because it is a game, which implies that it is to be "played". Playability, simply put (in an RTS) is that the player can do whatever he wants to with his units that he has built, (caugh) select more than 30 (caugh). It also to me means seamless play,so that the players can freely play the game. This comes to the dreaded point of engine in the game. I would love to see lucasarts take its place where it belongs among the top designers in the world, not as somebody who rips off of other peoples engines just to make a quick buck (could list numerous sources, GB XWA and so on). THis engine, if you choose to creat your own or simply modify an existin engine should fit in with the starwars universe and be specifically designed for the playing of the game (just about as obvious as i can make it people). Overall style of play, this to me means balance, pure an simple. an RTS needs to be balanced. where any civ can take any other civ no matter what they are doing because well its obvious. no civ should become overpowered in this game. It also means what types of games these players will play (mostly RM,DM and CS) I plead with you ... please... make the DM comparable to the RM in every sence. When you look at games like AoM that cater so strongly to the RM side of it, but the DM is just purely badits a little sad dont you think. And if its not enough for you just to want to make the best possible game for the players, ill hit u in the pocket book, news gets around fast in the DM community about how good or bad the games DM is, right now u have THOUSANDS of Dmers that are looking for a good DM game because they are endlessly dissappointed in AoM. Thats potential market me thinks . Also keep in mind that if its bad, you lose half of your market because news WILL get out and they WILL not buy i can assure you of that. Id also want to make a few statements about the overall job of GB. DONT look at it as a success because obviously by the mood here it was not, the people who spent months looking forward to this game dont even post in galactic discussion any more because they are so disgusted, Look at the zone ... 227 players on as i write this, that in my eyes is unacceptable for an online community. So look at your game for crying out loud, draw the AoM players away from microsoft and give them what they deserve for making a substandard game, steal their buisness. Im not gunna talk about the advertising end because i dont think thats specifically your job but for GB... IT SUCKED... just my 2 cents, tons of people didnt even know what this game was. So when you sit there at LA in your big fancy chairs getting ready to do this game, think of the fans, the people who play this game, and your pocket books. And make a good game, because a bad or average game gets you nowhere. Respectfully, JeDi_MaStA (im sending this to GG's pm system 2... ill post any reply i get in this thread, please keep it going with any suggestions)

Crazy_dog no.3
Well, JediMasta, isn't that what we pretty much all want? However, what's wrong with ripping off other people's engine's?! If it plays the same, fine, as long as it's fun! I think most of the people who are now in off-topic are there becuase they think Realism>Gameplay (massed troopers shouldn't win against everything. Airspeeders sucked against AT-ATS. The Gungans didn't have air power until it was revealed in AoTC).
SE_Vader_536
i guess you could say 227 ppl on the zone is crappy but its much better than some of the other games there...
JEDI_MASTA
AOK... its not better than that..... Lucasarts needs to step up and be able to make a showing to the world, not simpy getting by with games that only pull 200 players... AoM allready has 2000 regulars Ripping off other peeps engine isnt a bad thing, but it creates a sence of deja vu when u play the game... it dosent seem new and very little new stuff can be added, it also was built for another game. I want a game not a mod.
Sithmaster_821
The original AoE has about 400-500 players online (NOTE: that isnt including RoR, which has 600-700 players).
