Tiberius69
I've seen a lot of arguments on this board about cheating, binds, and what not and this is my take... You go out and buy Jedi Outcast, you get it installed and are excited to play online because its Star Wars and can't wait. You join a server and get pulverized, you practice for a week and you aren't getting much better. You spend a lot of time watching and not much playing because you are into the dueling. Yep this is me and many others... Since I have spent so much time watching, this is what I have seen... If you are a newb, it doesn't take much time for the other player to figure this out and the saber swinging stops and you get lunge-spammed. Ok, you die and watch the next battle. Wow, no lunging because for some reason, that person doesn't appear to be a newbie. No instant impalements, you watch a nice well fought saber swinging battle and you get excited. The next battles work the same way and then its your turn. Everyone seen you were a newb so no matter what you do, you get lunged. So, you try to lunge back, practice it and its tough. When you do get a lunge you get stabbed in the back. OK, so you ask people to help, you get dead air, you try to match up but people smurf as newbs. You ask for help some more and people say play bots, so you play bots and it makes you worse because bots suck. Worse yet, someone tells you his own sob story like "I really sucked for 2 months <sniff> now I can compete for the first time." 2 months, WTF? This sounds like the guy in Coming to America to me.... "first I started on cleanup, now im on lettuce...in a few years I'll make Assistant Manager and then the big bucks will roll in!" So, I went in anxious to master the game and got hit with a ton of bricks. I deleted the game. The next day I thought to myself, yeah, I'll script the DFA and then they'll be sorry!! So I did and it helped!!! People stopped lunging at me so much when I started stabbing them in the back with the blue lunge! I practiced the special moves over and over and thought I had them pretty down pat. I turned the script off, went back in and guess what? I suck, I really suck. Now I couldn't lunge so fast back at them and it was lunge spam city all over again. Is this the pros way of making you want to leave? This is obviously entertainment, for the pros, to lunge spam newbies. That's why I say cheaters are bred, not born. You honestly go in hoping to have fun, you're out 50 bucks either way. Then you find the learning curve is high so you grab a script/cheat whatever. So, you may say you don't want people to script/cheat? Stop being such a prick and stop showing off to your invisible friends! If you see a newb like me, stop the instant kill lunging crap and play an honest battle. What's the worse thing that may happen? I get a lucky hit on you and knock your health down a little? You are going to kill me, just not so instantly and I may get some experience out of it. Admiral Derski
The reason people tell you to play bots, practice etc is simply because its the only way to become better, period. You can run out a get yourself a script for a quick fix sure, but as soon as someone who is playing that has any skill whatsover keys in on your brand new shiny script, your gonna be just as dead as before, if not more. You see an experienced person can execute any move 100% better then any script ever could for them. Thus by using the script your leaving yourself wide open to a slaughtering. Sure it sux to hear us say well just practice for a while and youll get it, but really, its the only way and I know not everyone can play this game all day every day just to get good at it, real life has to intervene sometime, but sadly its the best advice that can be given. If you short term soloution is to go get a script to make you 5% better overall then the learning curve just sent you straight into the ground. Tiberius69
Datheus, soon after I wrote that post, I found the Jedi Academy and signed up. Haven't heard back from them probabaly due to the holidays. I also found one nice person who let me try to kill him as best I could over and over again without the lunge crap. I'm sure just opening my mouth is going to get me some help when the right person comes along.
