fdk Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 I have made a rodian skin for a friendly clan and I have made the .surf file take the vest off to expose the shirt underneith, i have also created and identicle skin without the surf files to have the exact same skin wear a vest aswell. I have seen something similar on this forum before and i was curious as to if there is a console command, and what it is to just have the skin with the .surf files and type something in the console and it loads the vest. I am new to .surf files . I want to do this so i can lower the size of the skinpack and make it more tidy. So instead of having 2 skins (With and without the vest), just 1 skin (without the vest)that with a simple console command can get the benefeits of the deleted skin with the vest. Thank you. FDK.
fdk Posted January 5, 2003 Author Posted January 5, 2003 Almost forgot, Here is the content of the .surf files surfOff "torso_vest" surfOn "torso_augment_off" Just incase its needed:D Cyas
fdk Posted January 5, 2003 Author Posted January 5, 2003 Anybody know? I'm positive i've seen something similar on this forum before.
Psyk0Sith Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 Im not sure i fully understand what you want to do... You basically want to load the default "removed vest skin" first, and if someone wants to have the vest on he loads it via the console? (or maybe vice versa) It should be easy to do: Since you are using the same textures, a simple .skin/.surf are needed to create the variation. model_default.skin (without the vest) should have a corresponding .surf file that you name model_default.surf and the other one model_vest.skin ---> that has the vest on (no .surf files needed) In the console you would type "/model rodian/vest" to get the other variation. Did that help??
razorace Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 I think he's asking for a way to turn on and off the surfaces without making an additional model/skin file (probably to save space on the UI menu). Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do that. It would require additional information to be transmitted over the game bandwidth, so I don't think it's currently a command in the game.
Orbitäl Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 I think you will have to make another .skin file for this to work. Try this: For the skin w/o the vest, name the file "model_default.skin" For the skin w/ the vest, make another .skin file and name it "model_vest/skin" When now the .surf file should be named to match the default .skin file, "model_default.surf". Say you named your skin Greedo (Example) in-game you could type: model greedo to get the no vest version &.... model greedo/vest to the alternate version. One final note, if your making your own icons for it be sure to name them accordingly. i.e. icon_default and icon_vest Hope this helps.
Psyk0Sith Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 That's what i said! except for the icon part, cuz he wanted to load through the console...well good luck.
