HelenW
Inspired by the topic where the pirates of the caribean ride was discussed, i thought I'd start a topic about what everyone's favourite roller coasters, rides and theme parks are. I know about US and UK theme parks but it would be interesting to hear what sort of things other countries have as well. I love roller coasters and for me, the bigger, faster and more loops a coaster has the better. My favourite roller coaster is Montu at Busch Gardens. It's really big, its a dangly one, with your feet hanging out, if you know what I mean, and has loads of loops and inversions. My favourite ride is spiderman at Islands of adventure, Universal studios. It's just brilliant, 3D effects, fire effects, everything. It's amazing!! My favourite theme park is hard to say really, but probably islands of adventures. It's a shame really, cos I like to be patriotic, but America does do theme parks better. The ones in england just don't compare really. There is a much better atmosphere at disney and even Universal theme parks. Suppose the weather helps!! The relatively new ride "Air" at Alton towers is interesting though, but nemesis seemed tame after america. Everyone goes on about oblivian as well, but again, it's good but not the best ride I've been on. I'm looking forward to going on the aerosmith rock n roller coaster at MGM paris though in a few days. Should be good

Al-back from the BigWhoop
i love Busch Garden's roller coasters, but my fav theme park is Six Flags (the best ones r New England and Los Angeles) Here in Brazil we have Hopi Hari (which doenst have good roller coasters, but has the world's 3rd biggest bungee... its ok) and Playcenter, which used to have one of the longest roller coasters, and it was really cool. Too bad it breaks a lot, so most of the time it is stopped for repairs... [edited]these parks are in São Paulo, the city i live, but their not the only ones. There are some good in the state of Rio de Janeiro and some in the south, but ive never been to them. In the North theres another HopiHari in Manaus, and in the Northeast therer r lots of water parks near the beaches[/]
Deadmeat_X
We have a SixFlags, not very different from any SixFlags. Then we got Duinrell, wich is only cool for the huge pool, and a couple of smaller parks, like Slagharen. The most popular is Efteling. The attractions aren't as thrilling as in SixFlags, but the decorations and stuff are much nicer... About coasters, I like them, but if you've been in one of them you've been in all if you catch me drift...
Joshi
HelenW, you say that you like the american amusemaent parks better and the weather helps. but it's not just the weather. florida has a lot of humidity, and every now and again, it will start to pour down. but even then, the atmousphere's better than just gloomy old britain. i loved the coasters at busch gardens (although i went when i was 11 so i can't remember any names) but i remember one where your legs are dangling and all it does is go through about five or six loops at one time. it last's only about half a minute, but it was worth it, adn it went really fast. HelenW
I know it rains in florida, but there, it's so hot you love it when it rains. I remember one day getting soaked in a downpour but it was so refreshing. I remember just standing there in my t shirt and shorts looking like a drowned rat one minute, then an hour later it was boiling again. At least it only really rains there once a day, rather than grey drizzle like here. But the americans are all so stranglely happy over there. It's really bizarre seeing them like that when your used to getting grunted at and glared at in places in england. I swear they are all on prozac or something. But it was cool, and they were nice, and they loved us, people just started talking to me in queue's (oh yeah, i mean lines, they don't queue in america hehe) saying oh wow!! Cool!!! Your from england, I love your accent, say something say something. It was really weird, everyone was so friendly and talking to me all the while. It's just not like that in England. Feral
Pig. Anyway, the best ride I have been on is Blue Thunder (I think) in GardaLand, Italy. It's a dangly-feet one, and it's pretty damn cool. The trouble with Nemesis is that it's way too fast to really appreciate suspense, etc. Oblivion is a load of donkey balls, andd totally over-rated. I didn't even bother going on it last time I visited Alton Towers. I don't suppose anyone has been the Knott's Berry Farm? There's not that much in the way of rides, but it's a fantastic place, and, should you be in the area, well worth the visit. I haven't been to Universal since they expanded with Island of Adventure, and I doubt I will do so in the foreseeable future. We also went to Sea World rather than Busch Gardens, and since I was only 9, I didn't get much of a say in the matter. I probably would have been too small anyway. Meh. The best park I have been to is a tricky one; if I had to choose, it would probably be Alton Towers for sheer sentimentality; however, I preffered it before they added Oblivion. At least then you could get on more than 6 rides in a day visit. Blizzard Beach, Florida is a close second; yes, it's a water park, but a damn goo water park. Shame about the horrendous queues.. Drunken_Sailor
The biggest theme park in Norway is called "Tusenfryd." I think some of you have heard of ThunderCoaster, the biggest wooden roller coaster in Europe. (I think)

SuicidalXWing
I kinda liked the rides at Hersheypark, but I can't remember much about them. Six Flags Darien Lake, near me has some great rides, but I've gone there a million times because I live like an hour or so away and it wasn't always a Six Flags. I've been to DisneyWorld twice. Disneyworld has the worst rides. They are so boring. The only good rides are the Tea Cups, the Haunted Mansion, and the Aerosmith Roller Coaster which came out in 1999. The Aerosmith Rock N Roller Coaster is one of the best coasters I've been on, and I had the front seat when I went on it. The people there in Florida do not know how to drive, at least in Orlando and Kissimee. One funny thing about Disneyworld was that the first time I went, was when I was like 12 or 13. The Liberty Bell in Independence Square was fascinating me. So I felt the urge to ring it. This was during a parade mind you. My sister and I began pushing on it, but couldn't get it to ring. Then my dad came over and gave it a big push. It made the loudest damn ring I've ever heard, and scared the S**t out of everybody who could hear it. We then proceeded to stroll of quickly and turned around to see others suddenly playing with it, LOL. Well, when I came back a few years ago, the bell had been locked in place, most probably because we had made it ring and caused others to play with it or that we weren't the only people who had that idea. Whatever it was, I can say I was one of the people who helped accomplish the locking of the Liberty Bell at DisneyWorld. And speaking of Brits, I remember this one couple in front of us at Ponderosa, the last time I went. They had to kids and their little girl was asking for a quarter for the stuffed animal machine. And then her brother was like, its two quarters. It made me laugh, but I thought it was kinda cool. Such proper children, "Mummy, may I have a quarter?". Joshi
i'm annoyed. i've been to both disneyworld florida and disneyland paris and neither times had i been on teh POTC ride. i'm really annoyed that i've missed out. i'll have to go back sometime. i remember when i went to florida in like 1996 or something. we stayed for two weeks and even then it wasn't nearly enough time to take it all in. this was before dinseyworlds newer theme park, the animal thingie. man, it was just so much, universal studios, bucsh gardensand disney world. orland florida is a tourist place, not a real american place, but goddamit it's good.
