Heavengames are renowed for their downloads and probably always will be. I think the early days of this site lost alot of people who havent come back :-(

 

However, one thing this site does have over SWGB Heavengames will be the ability to report news first about any SWGB 2 news etc.

The last time I went to heaven games (like a couple of weeks ago) and tried to download something, the download wouldn't work and when I finally got it downloaded, the file was corrupted and messed up.

That's undeniable... and obviously the greatest plus.

 

But while gb.com fans love the game the way it is, the heavengames people seem to want to get even more out of it by creating downloads and mods. the modding has really kept my interest at a peak.

Still, most players of GB2 won't care as much about getting all the up-to-date info as they will care about access to an astoundingly huge download library. And as pbguy said, you can't honestly say that the GB scenarios you have are the only quality ones out there.

As I said before. Why can't you make a deal with GBHeaven to get some of their downloads? Or even to get the top slice of them?

I just headed to Heaven's games and looked around. I tried to download some stuff but nothing worked. I figured out that you have to go to the download page, wait for it to say it can't contact the server, and press the download link on the download page, not the link on the download list. Kind of a pain if you ask me. I guess that means I give my vote for quality > quanity.

 

I'm thinking of trying to make some RMs. I've tried this with AOK, and I've heard that SWGB is very similar, with only a few changes. If someone could give me some help (or point me to a site with some help), I would love to start making these more regularly and post them on the forums for feedback.

I think you should make an "HOW TO MAKE SCENARIOS" section.

It would help a lot of people.

Praetorian: Quality>Quantity? So they had a temporary server problem. It's always worked fine for me. And hey, it might just me an overload from the large numbers of people downloading stuff.

 

If memory serves me correctly, GBHeaven has a couple of articles on the site about how to make good scenarios, how to do tricky eye-candy things, and so on. GB.com would do well to include some articles similar to these- a "Guide to Scenario Creation" section would be great.

You could ask people there if they want to post about Scenarios etc see what happens.

All of the HG sites just had a really bad server crash and that screwed up the download sections.

 

As for SWGBH vs GB.com, GB is a lot better. There was a time (about when I left there and came here) that the forums were all about flame wars and OT stuff and the latest "news" they had was that the game was released. Their "strategy" section is full of pearls of wisdom like "build power cores near buildings" and still is. And the download section was about as expansive as ours is now. SWGBH had a major head start on GB's download section, and thus not only do they have more downloads, they also have access to the better designers/scripters/modders because they were there first.

I'm sorry. I left out a part. I forgot to mention there lack of quality assurance. I've download alot of stuff from them (mostly a while back), and found that alot of the downloads were low quality, although some are high quality. It's just to hard to correctly pick out the good ones. Therefore, quality is better than quantity. GBH may have more downloads, but I think GB.com has downloads that are mostly high quality. GB.com just needs to find more.

 

I do agree that if it is just a server problem or overload then it is not their fault and I falsely accused them of lack of keeping up their downloads. I'm sorry about this and will be more careful before I post.

I think the site should include detailed explanations of each civilization and detailed descriptions of the abilities. I think it should include descriptions of each indivdual unit.

the site does. It has prehaps the most detailed break down of the units than anyone else. Although, I have to admit, finding it is not easy but it will be once I do the revamp.
