ive made a map, but i deleted the .map on accident, and i only have the .bsp. i heard there is a way to make a .bsp into a .map

if there is, could you tell me please tell me how?

There might be a way, but from what I've heard, the results are pretty lousy. However, you should first check, if you still have the mymap.bak file present. If you have, just rename it mymap.map and you'll have your map back in a shape as good as ever.

 

About the .bsp -> .map conversion, I can not tell anything concrete, however.

If you can't find a backup of it, I'd suggest starting over. It would at least make for good practice.

 

The way the bsp-map converter works is basically like this-

If your bsp only consisted of a cube (6 faces, 1 object total), then when converting it using the so-called-converter, you would end up with 6 very thin panels for each of the faces that made up the cube (so 36 faces, 6 total objects)... so that's not really a good idea.

no there is a command....i used it in single player...but i cant remember it...all i know is it turned the deathstar map into a .map file....i cant remember the command though....ill see if i can find out
