DX_Nadun_Hagar
Hey wedge, in your map COTA, you use these little glowing orbs that look like flares. what are they? and how do i add them to my map? thanx
wedge2211
They are exactly that..."flares!" Select the "flares" texture set...you'll see a couple variants of the flare. They are all square shaders. To make them as I did, make a square brush the size you want your flare to be, and then shrink it depthwise until it is only one unit thick (so you'll end up, for example, with a 32x32x1 brush). Apply the flare shader you want to the square sides of the brush, and be sure to fit it to the surface using the surface inspector. Leave the other 4 faces of the brush as caulk or nodraw. Make the brush a detail. That's all there is to it. There are a couple other ways to make flares. I think you can put them on a square patch mesh and it'll be visible from all sides. Also, Raven likes to make two right-angle brushes with the flare shader on each side, look at the kejim_post .map file (check out the antennae on the towers). wedge2211
No, you have to make your own light sources nearby.
