Taos
Ok, we just got Taris and some new items for KOTOR. I'm very excited about being able to go to Coruscant...er I mean Taris. They are very similar though. I also like our new little toys that we can use as well!
ultimaster
Taris and Kashyyyk seem very similar. If it wasn't for Taris being a completely urban place with all the buildings and stuff, it would be just like Kashyyyk. As we know on Kashyyyk, the further you venture down, the less civilized and more dangerous it becomes. Also another similarity is how the wookies are up at the top and then humans on Taris. I won't need the new items, cuz I'm gonna be a hacker!!! That belt-like thingy might be useful tho for repelling force mind attacks.
Taos
After quickly reading your post, at first I was like ...but then I read the analogy and then it made some sense. I agree with you on that aspect for sure! I can't wait to explore these places! I hope that we will be able to go almost anywhere on them!
ras1310
Good analogy guys, but one important difference between Kashyyyk and Coruscant/Taris is that on Kashyyyk, the monsters at the bottom aren't Wookiees. On Coruscant and Taris it's humans (and aliens) all the way down. The new items and their two general types are interesting. I am surprised that datapads are one-shot items. How will they be used? I also found that Neural Amplifier belt intriguing, although I was thinking more about NPCs using it to avoid my attempts to influence them. Burrie
I take that you meant that the computer/security pikes are one-shot items? I expect that you will use these items in the same they were used in Deus Ex : You just have to use a number of these "spikes" to get through security. I'm rather curious about these "spikes" to hack a computer or the like... has any other piece of fiction/reality(?) ever used such a device with the same name? Also, I wonder where we'll need these datapads for. Would you require them to access/receive information? I hope that you can also use a datapad to store notes of your own. I'd have one with me just to keep as a diary I won't need the new items, cuz I'm gonna be a hacker!!! You're gonna create a slicer? Nice, there's a type of character I haven't heard off before. Surely something I might want to consider playing after finishing the game a few times. Still, I believe you might need these spikes to get past security. However, for your character, you will need to use less spikes than the average character. Where my soldier would maybe require four security spikes to access a databank, your slicer would require but one spike to access the databank. (at least, that's how I think the system will work)
ras1310
Uh, no Burrie, I understood why the spikes would be one-shot items. It was the datapads specifically that I was wondering about. I forgot to mention what I find most interesting about Taris: in the screenshots, Bastila is fighting a Dark Jedi that is using two lightsabers. I wonder: are you going to encounter him the first time you're there, or on a potential return trip? If it's the first time, that's a pretty tough opponent to face so soon (I assume). Burrie
Oops, I see what you mean... but then, I have to ask, where does it state that datapads are one-shot items? I forgot to mention what I find most interesting about Taris: in the screenshots, Bastila is fighting a Dark Jedi that is using two lightsabers. I wonder: are you going to encounter him the first time you're there, or on a potential return trip? If it's the first time, that's a pretty tough opponent to face so soon (I assume). I remember Bioware saying that several of their first screenshots were mere screenshots and don't necesarilly have to be in the final game. They were referring to a specific screenshot in which Bastilla is frying a few sith troopers with Lightning. Mmmm, either it's for a return trip, but if it is the first time, I personally guess that this might be a way to introduce Bastilla, y'know? You have just crashed from the escape pod, the sole survivor of your ship. Upon landing in Taris, you quickly stay out of the way of several Sith Troopers. You run through a battlefield, until you suddenly hear lightsabers clash in the distance... you run towards it, and tada, you see a scene of Bastilla warding off a Dark Jedi. It might be a nice way to introduce the character.
ras1310
but then, I have to ask, where does it state that datapads are one-shot items? You're right, it doesn't. I got a bit carried away; obviously, datapads aren't equipable, but that doesn't make them one-shot items, like the other usables. I look at the screenshots this way: all of them could be in the game, none of them necessarily will be, in part depending on how you play. So, I may not see this two-lightsaber Sith, but I'll still be watching for him. RAS
dark jedi 8
your idea seems pretty logical burrie. besides bastilla is a very powerful jedi, and could probably take on a couple of siths.
ultimaster
That would make for a dramatic character entrance and it would be great as far as pulling you into the action right at the beginning.
