would there be a way to have a trigger in the func_rotating (revolving door) so that when the play moves into the door, the door rotates x amount of degrees. This would create the effect that the player is turning the door rather then it just spinning around. Possible?

I would try adding a func timer in the mix, you can set the rotation speed, so let's say you set the speed so that it rotates a full circle in 4 seconds, then if you use the timer to shut it down after 1 second it will have turned a quarter of a circle, wich whould be like a swinging door.

 

However, you would only be able to use this once, as you can only let the rotator rotate in one direction.

I'm not familiar with SOF2 editing but there can be a rotating door entity which is missing from JK2. So you can't make the same for the two games.
