whiplash73 Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 I have no problem running my server on the internet... but I don't know what I have to do to make it a LAN server. I have an upcoming LAN party this weekend, and would like to bring my server. I have a shortcut that I click on that launches the dedicated server. It runs in a black window, and is currently advertised on the Internet. I would like to make another shortcut to just click on for a LAN dedicated server. I am sure it is easy, but thanks for taking the time to post.
Andy867 Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 what you could do is just try running the server normally, put password it so that only your buddies can join the game. Or make a separate server.cfg that doesn't broadcast over the net, just on the LAN.
NerfYoda Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 If you're using private addressing on your LAN at your LAN party you won't have to worry about your server boradcasting to the Internet because that should get blocked at your router. Also make sure you're not sending heartbeats to any JK2 master servers. Comment out or remove any lines that begin with "seta sv_master"
