zeek2304
I CAN'T DO IT. I can't find any tuts on how to unwrap a model and I have no idea where to start. Can anyone help me? I've gotten to the part where I have to seperate the vertices and whatnot.
Hindy
Have ya tried http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/ Look under the resources section... You should find plenty, especially on the Quake sections. Personally Im yet to do this and I sure I will as equally stressed when I do! Programs like Ultimate Unwrap 3d are available, Ghostpainter 2 looks to be promising too. Type them in google and look on the official sites
Psynex
Oh boy...THAT tutorial. Well, Unwrapping is no easy task and I don't advise using a plug-in simply because they take the majority of the work off of your hands, but they don't teach you how to lay out a good skin map. I'm re-modelling a low-poly version of the sword of omens to go with my Lion-O character so I suppose I could write a new lightsaber tutorial in the process. Since that may take some time, I also stand by checking out Polycounts website. They have a video tutorial tutorial vault. I learned by grabbing an unwrap video by Bobo the Seal. He unwrapped a head, but I learned a lot about UVs from it.
clu
I've suggested this one before, but I'll do it again: http://www.waylon-art.com/uvw_tutorial/uvwtut_01.html UV unwrapping was probably one of the most difficult things for me personally. This tutorial helped a lot. -clu
Commodus
Try http://www.planetfortress.com/tf2models/tuto/3dsmax_sc/tuto_3dsmax_sc4.htm . The first tutorial to explain the thing to me...
Psynex
Yum...older versions of max. Those tutorials are quite outdated IMHO. Zeek, what program are you using? I'm assuming Gmax since you're following that terrible tutorial.
zeek2304
Yeah I'm using G-Max. I've tried using lithunwrap and it works to a degree . . . but everything is all spread out and messed up. Basically it doesn't work.
