R5D4
SWGB is still worth what i paid for it casuse its the only RTS game of Starwars , except of the crappy force commander . Only thing is lack of updates and expansions . like to see more of it
DarthMuffin
Personally, I think you should wait for a possible SWGB2. It's not announced yet (E3, maybe....) but there are better games to spend your money on (wc3, wc3, wc3 etc.)
joesdomain
It was worth it if you want a Star Wars strategy game. Force Commander and Rebellion were terrible. If you want a strategy game that isn't star wars then go buy some other one like Command and Conqreor Renegade or Generals or the old one Red Strike. They still sell Age of Empires II, Empire Earth, Civilization III, and Age of Mythology in my local wal-mart store.

Sithmaster_821
The originals were pretty good, but the x-packs campaigns were like sticking a nail into your eye. I can't believe I actually played most of them.
Admiral Vostok
I think SWGB will remain my favourite game, or at least on of my favourites, for quite a while. I've recently gotten into AoM, but having completed the campaigns all that is left is random maps and multiplayer games. In multiplayer, AoM is great, but I think Random Map games (just you vs the computer) are much more fun in SWGB. Sure AoM is fantastic, but when I'm not playing against other humans I just don't enjoy myself as much as when I'm doing the same thing in SWGB. The only other game I played this much was StarCraft, and I tried playing it again recently before deciding SWGB was much more fun. In summary: well worth the money. But did you expect a different answer from people who still post on a SWGB forum?
Sithmaster_821
In multiplayer, AoM is great, but I think Random Map games (just you vs the computer) are much more fun in SWGB. Yeah, I've noticed that too. Its probably because AoM is geared for more fast-paced gaming, its not as fun in sinlge player (its single player still beats Warcraft single and multiplayer. In the x-pack, it would be cool if they included a more AoK style play.
R5D4
Rebellion was a superb game i like a lot < personal opinion > I still play it once in a while
SE_Vader_536
definetly worth the money if you want a strategy star wars game. cant get much better then swgb. i mean would it be worth it to play the movies!? this is the closest to that.
lukeiamyourdad
I wish SWGB2' campaigns will be just as good as AoM's. Damn that was good. And for some reason I like AoK's random maps more. It seems like AoM's random map well, isn't that fun. The Comp is still strangely dumb(come on they could have made the AI a bit better) and I almost use the same strat as with AoK(aside from a few). AoK was more about...war. AoM wasn't so much about that. I wish it could be more that way. (the Random Maps I mean)
Sithmaster_821
Actually I found the comp in AoM to be much smarter than AoK or SWGB. Its just that playing RM vs the comp isn't as satisfying as it was during those two. But that could also be becuase I have slowly switched towards playing mostly muliplayer (When I was playing SWGB online most of the time, RM lost much of its satisfation as well). Admiral Vostok
The comp in AoM doesn't seem that smart to me. If you wall off every entrance to your base except one, then build heaps of towers and place your whole army at that one open entrance, the enemy will walk right up to it rather than fighting through the non-defended walls. There is just something about AoM random maps that I find very boring. Not so with SWGB, I think the SWGB random maps are incredibly fun, much more so than AoM. So I think SWGB has more replayability than AoM, though AoM's multiplayer is just as fun or maybe more fun than SWGB.
Sithmaster_821
The comp in AoM doesn't seem that smart to me. If you wall off every entrance to your base except one, then build heaps of towers and place your whole army at that one open entrance, the enemy will walk right up to it rather than fighting through the non-defended walls. It does that in SWGB and AoK too. Its because unless the wall is complete, the comp sees it as a natural boundary. As for the maps themselves, I don't know what you are tlking about. One of the only things that makes AoM's RM fun is the unique maps like Vinlandsaga or Valley of kings that you neer see played on ESO.
Admiral Vostok
It's not the maps themselves, which are actually excellent, but playing RM games with the comp is quite uninteresting compared to playing multiplayer RM with humans.
lukeiamyourdad
Of course. It's always like that whatever the game is(most of the time). I don't really like the number of AoM RM maps available. SWGB has twice that number. But some of AoM's maps are quite interesting. The comp will always be dumber then a human(or alien) player. It gets quite boring sometimes to beat comps. If you put the difficulty lvl to easy(in AoM) it's too easy. The comp never attacks you. But when I put it to moderate I get my ass kicked...I'm just a newbie got AoM two weeks ago. Anyone got a site where some strats are or simply tell me some?
Admiral Vostok
Well what I've been trying to say is this: Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Single Player Random Maps are just as fun as Multiplayer Random Maps. Age of Mythology: Single Player Random Maps are not as fun as Multiplayer Random Maps. I would rather play SWGB's single player RMs than AoM's.
