Jedi Apprentice
I definitely agree with you Burrie. Seeing as how we don't even have any corporations that have been around 4,000 years or even possibly more (it doesn't state when Czerka was created) just think how much things can change. Just think of all the change that humans have undergone in the last 4,000 years or technology. It can be extreme change. And if they produce one they can produce more..... Burrie
And that is just one of the things that I really, REALLY like about KotOR. They can do just about anything at all, and it won't contradict anything at all. The Sith Empire might deal a crucial blow against the Republic, the Czerka corporation can do anything it wants, and it can be explained. Hell, they can blow up Dantooine, then later on claim that the surviving members colonised to a different planet that looks the same, which throughout the years simply became known as Dantooine. It's like what I've said before... this game has the potential to have the biggest impact on the Star Wars universe than any other game or literature project... and I really believe that Bioware is going to take advantage of that. ultimaster
That was the specific main reason that Bioware decided to make their game in this time period. It is a period where there isn't any real documentation or serious EU events happening. So why not just make up a prior civil war throughout the galaxy?! Aaaahhh...the movie parallels are abound. Burrie
Well, there WAS some literature that covered the era before KotOR, namely the Tales of the Jedi comic arc(Knights of the Old Republic(Beast Wars of Onderon, Saga of Nomi Sunrider, Freedonn Nadd Uprising, Dark Lords of the Sith, Sith War and finally Redemption). This is also, AFAIK, the only material that had been released in this time period. There might've been minor mentions of several events in various reference books, but nothing really big. KotOR must be the first return to this era in a long time(Redemption was published in 1998, I think). KotOR takes places about 40 years after these collosal events, but the Republic was still pretty much up and running at that point, so I don't think we'll see a galactic civil war... and to be honest, that would be paralleling the movie a bit too closely. I'm actually looking forward to playing in a Republic that still functions well, with a large and respected Jedi Order.
Rogue Nine
I agree. That particular period of SW history/lore has always intrigued me.
TheChosenOne-
Sunrider???---most a EU character.Guys,look-be wary of everything. You got basicly four sides--republic,Sith,this Czerka corporation and YOUR SIDE.I'm sure at some point, besides being tempted by the Sith, the corporation will try to add you to their plans. They could be a organization like -Wolfran and heart(Angel TV)playing both sides, siding with the winning side-THEIRS. The Sith might control them.My theory was a sith is the president of that company. My second guess/theory is that they're ploting on taking over as soon as the jedi&Sith fall.Like Blade said-"They're going to F**k us the first chance they get". Business wise, they could be supplying to Both sides,in order to make more $$ and get more powerful. This game has a lot of plot twists.I'm not trusting anyone...the counsel could be bought off, your teammates, and other characters.Your own jedis, your own people, race, partners, could try to kill you.Keep your sabers charged. Burrie
And now we're starting to think a wee bit too much into this Czerka Corporation. For now, all we know is that they've been mentioned on various occasions on the bioware site, too often that it's nothing more than a throwaway line. Someone from the Bioware staff mentioned that he couldn't say anything about the Czerka Corporation for storyline issues, so it must be a plot point. But to be honest, to think that Czerka is a third side in the conflict is a bit too much. They are based on the homeworld of the Sith itself(Korriban). They have a Sith Academy near their own spaceport. These guys are pretty much in cahoots with the Sith, but they are about as much a part of Malak's Empire as Sienar system are to Palpatine's. Also, how do you figure that the player represents a side of his own? To be honest, I personally think that the conflicts between sides will be pretty 2D... Light(Republic) vs Dark(Sith Empire), like the Original Trilogy
