Zenithist
Im Sure Im in the minority here and will get pounded by all you Star Wars Gurus~ In My Opinion, A good computer game should always feature an online mulitplayable version. The Game will be great The 1st time, maybe~ as all games are basically the same song with different words O_o ... and Yes.. an online experience like baldurs gate would blow~ But with all the time, and with the amount of money invested and hopd for on a return.. they shoulda considered looking to the premiere online rpgs like Diablo2 and Everqueer~ The real fun comes with online interaction, trading , and sometimes just chatting and making new friends... What at first sounded like the answer to my "what next" question, has turned out to be a big disappointment.. and while i may not get many supporters in this **Star Wars** convention, most onliners would agree with me i believe... So those of you with the power.. err The Force ... well do with it what ya will .. but I would pay 100.00 for a sci fi game rpg with a d2 or everqueer style play and supported realm ... Very Unhappy~
Esan Pelpat
This is not the place to harp about this as Bioware from day 1 has said no multiplayer. Thank you.
Jedi Apprentice
Let's see....you would pay 100 dollars for a RPG with supported realms? Maybe you could take a look at Star Wars Galaxies then. The reason they didn't implement MP was to make sure that the SP would be the best possible. And besides, I don't think you will get bored with this game. It has mondo replayability from everything we have heard. First post gripe....sheesh.... *wonders if the thread will be closed or not*
Guest Jed
I hope this gets closed. We don't need any more bitching threads, as this thread was meant to cause an uproar. I smell a troll if that's true....
Jedi Apprentice
My thoughts exactly, 220. I haven't seen a "There's No MP!!" thread since the game was first under development. Why would you post this here anyway? It's not like we have a say over the game development. Oh wait, we do.....go to the official boards! But it'd probabaly get closed there too. I don't quite follow you here... you are already saying that pretty much all the games are the same, just a different world and songs... well, I can actually agree with that to a degree... but I'm not quite sure what you're saying about Baldur's Gate. As far as I know, BG actually has an online experience, the ability to run through the game. One player is the main character whilst the rest plays as a buddy of the char. I can remember reading an article in the PC Gamer that it was actually quite fun... still, it wasn't that big of a success, so I guess that's why they didn't add it to KotOR. They could look after the SP part for that. they shoulda considered looking to the premiere online rpgs like Diablo2 and Everqueer~ The real fun comes with online interaction, trading , and sometimes just chatting and making new friends... And here I really am confused. Diablo 2 a RPG? I've played the demo and all, and I honestly do not see that game even as a RPG. Sure, it has some RPG tendecies with its stats and such, but stats does not make a RPG. Offering to play as three different classes/characters neither. Repeatedly clicking on an enemy does not make a RPG either. And Everqueer, which game is that? I can't say I ever heard of it... I do hope you're not trying to offensive several groups here, right? What at first sounded like the answer to my "what next" question, has turned out to be a big disappointment.. and while i may not get many supporters in this **Star Wars** convention, most onliners would agree with me i believe... I would like to point to the responses of my fellow posters. This game was from the start a single player RPG, and it has stayed at that. From the looks of it, it will be really great, because it tried to be one thing, not multiple things. To be honest, am I the only one who thinks that Lucasarts is actually doing things really well at the moment? Fans of single-player RPGs will have an excellent time with Knights of the Old Republic. Fans of MMORPGS will have a blast with Star Wars Galaxies. Those who prefer straight-out action saber battling have Jedi Academy to wait for... [/b] Not at all. LucasArts is producing games now to fit almost anyones style of play. From RPG's to MMORPG's to Gladitorial Combat, FPS, Squad Based Shooters... What more can you want? If you don't find it here(Which almost everyone does) then you can always find it somewhere else. Life goes on without MP, people, err, I mean, Zenithist. But I think we've pounded the poor guy enough. I do hope you will stay around and become part of our community. Because we are nice people, unless you criticize our precious game. Welcome. Burrie
Indeed, my apologies if my post came out a bit nasty... but I never like it when people go into self-pity mode... you know "Oh, woe is me, I am in the minority! I dare go against the system! I DARE TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION AND YOU ARE ALL WHINERS FOR NOT THINKING THE SAME!"... well, that's a bit exagarrated(sp?), but I think you'll understand what I'm saying In any case, a counterpoint is always refreshing. In my opinion, multiplayer would be a neat addition. However, it might go at the cost of the single player(which I play the most), which is why it won't work, I think. The game is also big, so you could only play it really in MP a few times... it wouldn't be that big of an addition anyways. Also, from what I can remember, Diablo takes place near one randomly generated dungeon/area, right? That makes it easier for different groups to enter... a game like KotOR has one large branching storyline that you simply can't suddenly "pop" into the game, whereas you can in Diablo 2. To be honest, these are amongst my points why I think multiplayer wouldn't work... the game just isn't designed for it. Diablo 2 and Everquest were... I'd like to hear your responses to these, and say why it could work, Zenithist.
