Drafus
Does anyone knows if with the lightsaber we will be able to: 1- Deflect blaster charges automatically like in JK2? Will we have to chose to deflect as an attack? or Will we have to kill the guy before we die 2- About the mini-games is there any other or just the three ones we heard about 3- By the way will we be able to use our lightsaber even if there are no ennemies. P.S It would be great to intimidate people with this
Jedi Apprentice
1. The turn-based mechanics will roll the dice for your blaster deflection skills and if it is higher than your opponent's skills dice roll you will block the shots. 2. Swoop racing, gladitorial combat, turret guns and more. There are more than three. The devs have said so. 3. You can ignite and de-ignite your saber at will, but can not randomly attack people. They have to be enemies to attack, but sometimes you can turn friends into enemies through dialogue, actions, etc. I hope this helped some. I'll try to find more in-depth information though, seeing as how this was off the top of my head.
Drafus
Do you think that because the planets we have to explore are to big that they put a speeder so that we could go faster where we want to go. Because we heard about the ped for the pod race, the swoop bike, and the Ebon hawk as vehicules but will there be any speeder. This is the swoop bike.... I think http://swrepublic.free.fr/Screen/Concept%20Arts/5.jpg Look behind the blue aliens I think it's a speeder http://swrepublic.free.fr/Screen/Screenshots/82.jpg That could be a speeder or a pod but it looks like a speeder http://swrepublic.free.fr/Screen/Concept%20Arts/23.jpg And I think that this is the pod http://swrepublic.free.fr/swoop.htm
Jedi Apprentice
The devs have said that sometimes if you have to go great distances that there will be alternate methods to walking and running. (They said this a while back so things could've changed) Most of the time traveling will be spent running though. I don't think this game really needs vehicles. It's just one more thing that can take away from the main bulk and things we really want. Like the cloaks. Besides, the planets are so pretty. Wouldn't you rather walk and take in the view? A rail car system in Staw Wars? We're talking hover transports, baby! I really could see if you had to go an incredibly long way, then you could take a transport or something to that extent. It would be kind've neat. Especially if you had tp pay fees for it. It would give it more of a real world feel. p.s. congrats on the 1000th post JA! Thanks DJ8! It took a while, but I finally got there. You are getting pretty close yourself. I know someone has used this custom title before so I hope no one gets mad for me using it. If so, they can PM me and I'll change it.
Lord Fury
Hello my first post at these boards. Now to give my opinion. Would you rather drive a vehicle around the 200 or more zones on the worlds or walk the 200 or more zones. I'd prefer walk in some instantses. Like say you were fighting 15 Sand People and you're pretty much losing yeah I see the point of using a vehicle to get back to the town after the battle is over. Well just my 2 cents I guess I don't know.
Jedi Apprentice
Welcome to the boards, Lord Fury. I would prefer to walk the distances and take in the views. Just as long as it doesn't take two hours to get from point A to point B.

All walking. That would've been without the shared inventory though. *waits for Hannibal*
Dharkbayne
on Planetside-universe, I got 1k posts in 2 months, hehe, im a spammer, but, congrats on ur 1k only been here a little while, and I like the community here, ( I haven't seen 1 flame!! It's a miracle!!!!) and the sabers, you can ignite whenever I think somehow I heard it was like black or white button, and when you ignite, there is a cool ass animation like ur gonna kick some ass,
Dharkbayne
P.S. , I forgot what I was going to post about, I doubt that you will be able to pilot any alternatives, infact, I think the only thing you can fly urself, is the speeder in the minigames, it will prolly be cutscenes or something like if you ride on something on Taris, I have a feeling there will be like giant winged things on Kashyyyk , I don't know why, but things you can ride like the things on Kamino in EII but, that's my eleventy-two cents, -Dharkbayne
Drafus
Ok!! Maybe I'm asking myself to much questions but I was wondering if when you explore a planet for a long time will there be a sunset or sunrise like in Zelda Ocarina of time.
Jedi Apprentice
The devs said the weather is usually the same to set a certain mood, but they gave the example that if you go into a building at dusk then when you come out it would be night time. That won't happen all of the time, but there will be tons of different times. It's all coded differently though..... I'll try to find the devs post. edit: Bah, well here's some of the answer... There are not a lot of weather effects in the game, but there are some. Most planets that you visit will have normal "clear and sunny" weather. The exception to this is Tatooine. Although it is sunny (desert planet and all that) there are dust/sand clouds and winds that blow across the surface that mess up your vision. There are also caves on assorted planets that are dark, misty and very moist, but that isn't really waether, it's more ambience. And there isn't really a day/night cycle. Again, most planets take place during "daytime" or sunny hours. But when you are on Kashyyyk, a planet known for a lot of thick tree cover, it is very dark. Almost night-like. And the deeper you go in Kashyyyk, the darker it gets. So there you have it. Sand and dust clouds. Wind. Dark wet caves. Dark, night-like Kashyyyk. And that rain of laser fire from the sky when you are on.... Oooops! Almost said too much there. Better keep that bit a secret.
Lord Fury
You know it's kinda easy to figure out what he was gonna say if you've seen some trailers. So there you have it. Sand and dust clouds. Wind. Dark wet caves. Dark, night-like Kashyyyk. And that rain of laser fire from the sky when you are on.... Oh perhaps Taris!? I mean come on I know how the game starts out and it's not even out yet. For those that don't the story should be as follows. [spoilerS] It sorta starts out like A New Hope but without the tractor beam. Your ship gets shot down onto Taris and your first mission is to find Bastila Shan seeing as she's the "only" one who can stop the Sith. Don't know what happens after that but you meet Zaalbar, Mission Vao, Carth, and some others on Taris. [/spoilerS]
