I dont get it, that grass thing... what texture can i use? i like it because it like sticks out, and the wind blows it around and stuff. Ive gotten the vines to work (it some texture in the yavin folder, rock_vines i think, if you stick it on the bottom of something, vines hang down, i didnt know it would do that but it was cool)

well, can someone help me out with that picture...

if you need a better look it in the yavin_temple level (for SP) find luke, and then go outside, and there should be 2 big areas of it.

thanks

didnt find anything in the asset0.pk3 file... i did a quick look over all the yavin textures... im ganna do an experiment with textures...

you see, when i did that vine thing i was talking about, you didnt see the vines in the editor it just looked like a normal texture, and if it was facing down, the vines would appear. so im going to try the textures in that pic i posted and c if the same thing happens.

ill say if it does...

thanks for the info, but i already made the map, and checked it out, and it worked depending on the grass texture i used... i tried em all... made like 10 different rooms, and put in a lot of teleports. :D i guess i wasted my time. It depends on the texture you use, but the thing was, when you turned, it always turned to face you, its crazy... the whole pile of grass kept spinning in circles.. well, ill check your link now.

Yeah that's what the sprites do... I used a grass - sprite texture for one of my maps and as you said, when you go around it the grass turns to follow you. It's kinda like the flares - the grass isn't a model.

yeah, ill just use the texture, that tutorial was confusing (im not an advanced mapper, nor do i know anything about shaders) and anyways, with JK3 coming out in a few months, im not going to make as many maps, as i had planned.

If using Q3Map2 you can do a way better effect by using the fur-entry in your shader. For details look in the manual.leaves_of_grass_00.jpg

This is a very basic example- with a little work you can make a very cool looking lawn out of it.

That's not fur shading, those are surface models, which are currently broken in Q3Map2. Fur shading is much, much better.

Shhh, was pretending to know things- don't rain on my parade ;)

Anyway, you can do grass in a much better way than a normal shader. AFAIK it's not that performance-killing too, so you might want to check it out.

it is a shader.

it is located in yavin

under grass or mud where ever cant remeber

just look for one with a white box and make like loads of squares with different grass textures on so that u can find them
