Business_Eskimo Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 What the heck did you use to synthesize that thing?
EvilCrow Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Quote Originally posted by Business_Eskimo What the heck did you use to synthesize that thing? Heh, if you have Windows XP, go to Control Panel and click on Speech, type in what you want it to say and play it. I used sound recorder to record it off the speakers. If you listen closely you can hear a truck passing by my house. LoL
Business_Eskimo Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 oh, lol, i guess that works Edit: Does that sound clip say what I think it does at the end?

Business_Eskimo Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Well, if you would like a better-sounding version, (without the, uh... expletitives, type it in here and save it. It will be better. Edit: Forgot the link... Here. http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html
Obsidian-Jovani Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Lol. That site will say some rather indiscreet words.
tFighterPilot Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 In KaZaA, search for Talk it It's a freeware, but I didn't dind it anyware else in the web.
PRSLou Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Ah! That's pretty sweet...that could make some great computer voices for some of my SP maps...

Of course it will but I really doubt that photopaint would want the person in the map to say "so F' you" at the end Quote Originally posted by Louis Ah! Yeah, and if you mess with it a bit in a sound-editing program, it's not hard to make it sound like a real person.
EvilCrow Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Convert it to 44KHz and 96kbit/s bitrate and it sounds much better.
lassev Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Quote Originally posted by Business_Eskimo Well, if you would like a better-sounding version, (without the, uh... expletitives, type it in here and save it. It will be better. Edit: Forgot the link... Here. http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html Unfortunately this site is no good for mapping purposes, if you ever intend to publish your maps. The following is an extract from a personal email from Dr. Alan Costilo of Wizzard Software Corp (the company that deals the licences for this AT&T speech program): "As you mention in your email, AT&T does allow the use of the engine for personal use. The AT&T license is very clear in NOT allowing any other use of the files created using the Natural Voices TTS engine. Intellectual property issues make it imperative that AT&T act in this fashion." And what did I ask him? I guess you already could read it between the lines. I asked if sound files using the Internet demo software can be used in custom maps meant to be dealt over the Internet totally free of charge. No run-times, no software, just sounds from the Internet demo. So, if you want to honour their copyrights and terms, you don't use AT&T software. And that's pity, because I was going to use a lot of sound files produced with that piece of software.
Business_Eskimo Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 Thats a real pity. I had already downloaded about 10 clips for use in one of my maps . Well I'm glad that you pointed that out, lassev. I certainly wouldn't want to break their copyright agreement (or get a nasty e-mail from AT&T "asking" me to take the map off the internet or face legal prosecution). :compcry:
