JediMasterEd
I'm having problems converting some .wav files to .mp3's or .wma's for my MP3 Player. The music pieces are from some Microsoft Games, to be more specific, Rise of Nations and Freelancer...go ahead...laugh...I like the music..anyway, everytime I try to change it, it comes up with an error, shuts itself down, or the locks. Is there a way of converting it? I've tried changing the .wav to .mp3 in the file name but that doesn't work. Thanks for your assistance.
Boba Rhett
You tried changing wav to mp3 by changing the extensions? Go to Download.com and get yourself a copy of Cdex. I don't know about wma files but it'll convert wav to mp3 just fine.
JediMasterEd
Believe it Rhett...I was that pissed off at some of the other .WAVE to .MP3 coverters...Thank you for the help.
Darth Groovy
Now I understand that WMA files are smaller in size, but do they sound as good? Windows Media Player can rip CDs in WMA format. However, If I could convert my mp3s to WMAs I could fit twice as much music on my mp3 player. Help me out here will ya?
Praetorian
I don't know anything specifically about .wma, but in the general rules of computer music compression, the more a format compresses a file, the lower the quality is. @JediMasterEd - I haven't heard the RoN music, but I love Freelancer's music. That's a good idea. You know, come to think of it, I have played Freelancer in a while, I'll have to fire it up tonight and frag some Xenos! JediMasterEd
I had to re-install my copy. I downloaded the Mod Manager and it has been nothing but a pain in the butt. Praetorian, have you gotten the Titan?
DashRendar
Trust me if he's only Fragging Xenos he doesn't have a Titan. But I have a Sabre (and *I* think it's the best one in the game, no matter WHAT the price difference is )
Praetorian
Actually I do have the Titan. Xenos was the first thing that came to mind. I can't even attack Xenos, they always run away. Now I usually fight the Corsairs. You can get some awesome missions fighting against them. I also used to have a Sabre, I loved that ship. I only upgraded cause I wanted the extra armor. For those of you who haven't played Freelancer, go get the demo here
DashRendar
From where? Malta? Personally I've only tried the Sabre, and believe that the extra forward gun is worth the armor...and the Maneuverability is worth it, too. On that Key the Eagle is WAAAAAAY better than the Titan cuz it has awesome maneuverability, and Maneuverability will win over Armor anytime, at least when it's that big of a difference. JediMasterEd
I got both of the ships a while back...I liked the Sabre better cause of maneuverability and decent armor. Even though the Titan has the best armor than any other craft, the Sabre is still the better pick. How did the Xeno's come up first? I would of figured the Nomads. You can still fight them which is good cause I liked fighting them. They were a challenge and I like challenges. You can get the Titan on Planet Crete and Leon Base. Leon base is located in the Omega-41 system in the Edge Worlds Systems and Planet Crete is located in the Omicron Gamma system. Praetorian
The Xenos came up first cause I always enjoyed fragging them. I don't know why, they were just always fun to frag. I usually fight Corsairs and Nomads now though. I haven't tried the eagle. I think I'll get my Valkyrie character an eagle. (I usually play on a LAN). The only thing I've never done was get all lvl10 weapons for my ship. I agree w/ the maneuverability over armor. I LOVED playing w/ the LF in the campaign, until it got to the point you needed a torpedo laucher to be effective. Maybe all try out the Banshee. Another cool thing I found w/ a LAN, if you are playing with about 3-5 people who are willing to work together. It's actually kinda fun to get a Humpback and just slowly fly around acting like a weapons platform while you budies chase them around. It gets boring after awhile, though. DashRendar
Hehehehehe someone on TLR (The Lancer's Reactor-basically the biggest ____lancer fansite out there.) posted a whole Thread on how to fight properly with the Humpback, of course they were thinking along the Solo lines, but they told you everything there, if you're a trader it could be useful.
