PhoenixOrdnayne
I found I couldn't run SWG on my current computer, so I'm looking into buying a new one, and was considering one of those Alienware gaming comps. Is there anything I should know? (Are they actually crap, is there a certain one to get, should I get something else, etc.)
Thew Rydur
Alienware are definately high-quality, I know people who have them and they are very happy with them. I however, being on more of a budget got my new system from ABS. They've gotten good reviews in a lot of different magazines. I can't rate them myself yet though, as my system hasn't gotten here yet. str8edg
To me they are a fine system but unless you just want the look of an 'Alienware' case you are paying to much. You could build the same system and mod it yourself you a lot cheaper than you could buy one for. BUT if I had the money to spend and did not havethe time or the want to mod my own box I would buy 'Alienware' or better still buy a 'Voodoopc' machine..... They look nice! Zenmetsu
I suggest looking for antoher comp unless your considering their laptop becasue tis the only gaming laptop ive seen yet. Ya you can build a much better system on your own or get another computer with an ati radeon 9700 pro ro some ati card.
TheMaestro
Check out pricewatch.com It is an awesome almost "bazaar" type place...I bought all my parts there and build my computer for around 600$...running a 2.4 266 with 512k, 1 gig ram, GeForce4 4200TI 80GB...a very amazing system, and at that price a steal. Do research everywhere before buying --
Exar_reborn
I was debating forever between dell and alienware for my new comp. Alienwares water cooling system is great for an AMD processor letting it go full boar without it frying and they are also the only comp company offer the new Geforce fx 256mb graphics card with the system but the others are also right about the casing. Shiny in any color you want lol. BUT with alienware you do get a Final Fantasy beta kit which i wish I could get.. But I went with the dell because of the service.. and the rep. Alienware also has an excellent customer service dep. And they have the alien autopsy thing inside your comp so you can check your system yourself. Urge
I think they're over priced for the performance but damn nice looking.
darthfergie
Alot of people prefer just to build the computer themselves tho and I can see that...but... *pats Alienware* ...they don't sacrifice a fatted calf or small child to theirs every 3 days to keep the god power up like my Alienware. Seriously tho...If you have the money this is the company you should use.
