Ernil
Funny... I hate Weezer and love Phish... Ar...not surprising. I started my musical quest (which has taken me a long way) long ago, and it has evolved through many different phases. Weezer was a band I got into a couple of years ago, practically the only band I still enjoy from my "Nerd Rock" phase. After this phase came my sister and her Jam Bands. Phish sifted through all of these Jam Bands to be at the top of my list. I also had an Alternative Rock phase, and really got into the Red Hot Chili Peppers in that one. So you may say that when I list my top favorite bands, it is my favorite band from each type of music I have tried out. Though, Weezer, Phish, and RHCP maintain to be my 3 favorite bands, despite all of their differences.

Ernil
I see "Queens of the Stone Age" scattered about this page more than I had expected. Though I do not like the band or the type of music, I saw them play live and quite enjoyed the experience. Maybe there's something in the song that I can only hear live....yet others catch on to this "something" listening to their CD.

Mr.Burger
You: But it's so damn LONG!! Me: It's easy to skim this one! I made it eye-friendly. At the moment my heart belongs to many musical groups. >> The Red Hot Chili Peppers: (Soul to Squeeze, Otherside, Parallel Universe, Under the Bridge, Tear, Dosed) >> Weezer: (Say it Ain't So, Undone, Butterfly, Pink Triangle, Only in Dreams) >> Phish: (Sample in a Jar, Bouncing Around the Room, Bug, Waste, If I Could, Guyute, Farmhouse, Heavy Things) >> Incubus: (Summer Romance, Drive, Warning, Aqueous Transmission, Echoes, I Miss You (acoustic), Stellar) >> Sublime: (Garden Grove, Waiting for My Ruca, Santeria, What I Got, Badfish, 40 Ounces to Freedom) >> The Strokes: (Automatic Stop, Hard to Explain, What Ever Happened?) I typically avoid sticking to a single band too much, because tenacity can lead to musical ignorance where (like my dad) you hate anything you don't recognize. I think I have a song I like for every category of music. Classical? I love Andres Segovia. Country? Song of the South by Alabama. Oldies? Too many to list. Hard Rock System of a Down is VERY good. Hard rock fans will say that SoaD is not hard but that's because they're just sad that SoaD started being famous and making money so they kicked them out of their Hard Rock Groups club. Emo? T.B.S. is too good to deny, although they are cheesy. RAP?? Karmacoma by Massive Attack. Progrock/Techno?!? The Faint, Radiohead... this category can weird some people out but the musical genius behind it (assuming you've found a worthwhile song) is what attracts me. I'm not an idiot who likes all music for the sake of saying "I LIKE EVERY KIND OF MUSIC" because obviously I'm biased towards music that doesn't suck. Ernil - I like The Queens of the Stone Age. Try: Go With the Flow Let me bash some bands real quick, too, to spice things up again. >>Dave Matthews? INCREDIBLY over rated. What he needs to do: change his band name to something other than his own NAME. >>Counting Crows? Why do people like these guys? I know musical theory quite well... and this band seems to play each song VERY similarly. What do I mean by similar? I mean you could hum the tune of one song to a different song and it sounds fine. What is an example of dissimilarity? Phish. Incubus. >>John Mayer His biggest hit wasn't written by him. He's got a lot of talent... why not use it? To John: Put out a single that YOU wrote you money-raping arse. >>The Goo Goo Dolls No one actually listens to these guys anymore... no one has for a few years. Why? Well, that's what happens when you are terrible musicians. I have always hated the Goo Goo Dolls and the song Iris SUCKED. (That one that went: AND I DON'T WANT THE WORLD TO SEE ME... CAUSE I DON'T THINK THAT THEY'D UNDERSTAND) >>Linkin Park, Nickelback and all the countless new groups None of your music is good. You are a curse to our society. Either move to another planet or commit suicide. There are NO other options.

Ernil has wonderfully fantastically great taste in music. Phish is good good stuff. (It is very, very popular where I live, as is Weezer. The Blue CD is the best one) If you like Phish try listening to Strangefolk, they have a similar sound and are very good. Yellow Card- Way Away Taking Back Sunday-Cute Without the E Mr Burger you are being a bit harsh. John Mayer's biggest hits are also his worst songs. Mr.Burger
shiver - if you read what i say more carefully you'll see i said John had talent yet he still puts the songs he did not write out as his singles. it's not harsh it's true, and sometimes the truth blows. for example when i told my ex-almost-girlfriend about a truth i'd been hiding for too long and she hasn't talked to me since. i thought i was being the better man. of course not. john mayer is extremely good at what he does... but why did he instead make his breakthrough with the song written by some other guy?
