Applying more than one texture to the same brush?

Is it possible to apply several different textures to the same brush? Also, would it be possible to make a glass texture with part of it glass and part of it not glass? E.g. a texture of a window AND its frame, this could save a lot of system resources in my level. Thanks to those who reply.

Yes, it's possible to use several different textures on one brush, but it's not possible to use different textures on the same surface of that brush.

 

CTRL+SHIFT+Mouse click selects individual surfaces on a brush. Enjoy!

 

 

EDIT:

The biggest texture size I've seen used is 2048x2048... the next size up would be 8096... but that'd be a monstrous file size. You really shouldn't need to go about 1024, though.

1024x1024 would be great!!!! I'm using this texture on the walls of a very large surface so i'm trying to reduce the 'tiled' look, thanks. Also, i ran into another problem. I made a curved surface by taking a quarter of a 20 sided polygon now i want to apply a texture to it, but i want the texture to tile once across the width of several surfaces rather than once accross each surface, is there anyway to do this? Thanks.

if u just select the face or the whole brush and applyu the texture it will apply it normaly. If u wanted to fit the texture to each face though select the surface and open the surface insepctor (s) and select "fit"

using a patch was my initial approach but i wanted it to be hollow, and I ran into problems when i tried to make a curved cap at the top of it, couldn't find anything that would fit! This way i can just use a part of a sphere with the same amount of sides, and they'll line up perfectly.

Couldn't find anything that fits? How did you try and make the patch? Because you can always just create a flat patch and mess with the vertex editing tool to build whatever you want.

I went back to the patch idea, cause texturing proved too much of a pain. lol. A question what uses more system resources, reusing a big texture on another part of your level, or making a new but smaller texture for that part of the level?
