  1. I have that same issue EVERYWHERE!! It drives me crazy. I too respect musical opinions, but I do get tired of people constantly mocking me for what I listen to. They never go deep into the lyrical themes. They just hear something they like and start spitting it out. Me, I listen for three things when I'm looking at bands: 1) lyrical themes 2) a heavy, dark sound 3)actual talent. If they lack any of those things, I discard them. Take the Chariot for example. They have very Christ-centered themes and an extremely heavy sound, but Josh Scogin's hard vocals aren't the best in the world. But I have respect for them, though; they're from where I live, as is Norma Jean and Luti-Kriss. For all I know, my band director may have gone to school with some with the members. I know the Youth pastor at local church and current adult sponsor for 1st priority at my school schooled with members of Becoming the Archetype.
