Just instead of Guybrush, we'd have some young lad who's good with a sword and had a more palatable name. As a twist, this guy doesn't want to be a pirate. Elaine would not be the governor, but rather a governor's daughter, because audiences gotta find it believable, you know (/s). LeChuck is a silly name so they give him a more piratey name, but keep his ghost crew. Secret has a lot of cool characters, but it would be costly to hire a good actor for everybody, so like in most movie adaptions, let's consolidate the most memorable characters: Guybrush's crew is just one guy. He's a pirate that not-Guybrush has to break out of prison and beat in a sword fight, and he has tattoos. The bird touching is silly so as a callback to fans, we just give him the name of a bird. If he flails his arms around wildly while he talks, and talks in a very fast confusing way and is a master of convincing people of half truths, we got Stan in there too. Actually, the whole "Monkey" Island is silly sounding and doesn't invoke piracy at all. We simply rename Monkey Island to the Island of the Dead, give LeChuck a monkey sidekick and name another island after an animal that's more piraty than a monkey, e.g. a turtle. Where's my money Disney?

I'm waiting for a good sail and then I might buy it. I had my eyes set on this game since the announcement, but then it was Xbox exclusive, then when it came to PC I was put off by the multiplayer, since I have no friend who would play this with me. But maybe swinging across to Hook Island with a rubber chicken in 3D is enough to get me to try it.

Yeah, one of the things I do more often than I should, is to imagine what happens between Secret and Revenge and what would have happened after Revenge if there hadn't been the "Curse correction" of Guybrush's character. The Guybrush in Secret was a naive young guy who had a good heart, tried to be a pirate as well as a hero. He wanted to be a pirate and have adventures. Revenge Guybrush was a collossal dick, the more often I play it, and adventure only served him as a source for stories to brag about Guybrush didn't want to BE a pirate anymore, he WAS one. And he'd realized no one gave a damn about it. Guybrush was still the same person from Secret to Revenge. In Secret he'd already screwed people over if he'd think they'd deserve it: the shopkeeper, Bob, the Sheriff, even Elaine (before he met her). What changed was simply the "deserves it" needle, that moved from a quite average position all the way to "almost everybody". Wally did nothing wrong 🧐

This Guybrush looks exactly how I'd imagine a Guybrush who'd continue on the same path MI2 Guybrush was. Older, more unkempt, bigger beard, more full of himself but also more down about not getting the recognition he wanted, and still broken up with Elaine. Besides, after all these Guybrush designs we've had in the last 30 years the majority of them don't look like one another, so 🤷‍♂️

I've seen this one but I'm not very happy with it. The bottom halves seem to not quite align and they are very short. I made my own code wheel from other screenshots, which I like better, but I don't own a boxed copy of Secret unfortunately.
