Alzarin
Best i can get is 30 with dynamic glow on , my system is well past minimum and even above recommened too, in fact people on here with better systems then mine says it cuts them down to 30s too. Any of you guys manage to get up around 60 with it ? I know i can just take it off and get 60 just fine just kind of annoying that they add something that seems to universally chop framerates down in half. MattJedi
Mine is constantly fluctuating from the 40's to the 60's, never stays in one place. I have dynamic glow on.
Andy867
I can usually get about 80FPS with dynamic glow, depending upon if I only spawn like 3 Kyles:)

I posted in the official demo thread in this forum that Shadows: Volumetric and Dynamic Glow: On are the two biggest framerate killers. There are a lot of variables affecting your framerate; not only your video settings but also what is going on in the game: the size and complexity of the map (it's easier for the computer to draw the inside of a simple small room than the huge Chandrila Tomb map for instance), the number of other characters in view and what they are doing, complex light sources and shadows, etc. so it's hard to speak in more than generalities about framerates. Remember that motion pictures have a framerate of 30 FPS I believe, and your monitor can't display a framerate higher than it's refresh rate (usually 72-100cps, depending on the monitor and resolution you are using). BuRn
im getting around 80 with glow on, settings on high with 1600 x 1200 res
Andy867
Another one of the BIG FPS killers is the Force Feedback option for the mouse under the controls option.. For some reason it is automatically turned on, even though most PC mice don';t have force feedback.. I went from 40-60 FPS to 80-90 just by disabling that option alone. And actually Amidala, my monitor's refresh is only 60Hz@800x600 resolution while I get anywhere from 80-303FPS depending upon where I am in the map obviously. pahamrick
At 1024x768 with everything turned on (except force feedback) and everything on high, I was lucky to manage about 40 fps. After turning the shadows to simple, I was hitting 70- 80 fps in the cavern map near the beginning.

Which means that you are still only seeing 60 frames out of whatever your video card is producing. However, that being said, V-Sync is still bad (for most people). Higher is better, even if you don't see all of it.

That's a great observation, I'll check my Setup for that! While your computer might be producing high framerates, your monitor is only displaying 60FPS max if the refresh is 60Hz. That's why I run my desktop at 1280x960 @85Hz and run the games (both JO and JA demo) in a window at 1024x768 with video sync on so I can get up to 85FPS. With video sync off in JO (JK2) I can get >85FPS, but I can't use it and it makes weird things happen when spectating. Also, running in a window makes it easier to switch to the applications I use to monitor and control my servers, use IM, check email, etc. while keeping an eye on my servers in spectator mode.
