phatcher
Just installed the lastest update from MS this morning and now my beloved game will either not start or is super choppy if it does. Any run into this problem and if so, how did you fix it? TIA Patrick
FK | unnamed
offline or online play? or both? in MP type this: \cg_lagometer 1 if the lower bar is green and thin, and steady with no spikes, it's nothing to do with packet loss. then do this: \cg_drawFPS 1 What is your rate in the top corner? Does it drops really low, like in the 10-15 range? Just trying to get an idea of what you mean by choppy, it can be many problems, test those and/or give more specific details and I'll see if I can help you. Andy867
I hate to ask this, but I've seen it happen, was this MS Patch provided through their actual website, or from an email supposedly from Microsoft?
phatcher
sorry for the delay in answering. To answer the questions: Playing Single mode MS patch was downloaded via the system update program in the system tray. What I ended up doing was reverting the system back to the previous day (used system restore). The problem disappeared. The MS Patch was installed again today, and the game works fine. Strange. Silent Bob
Never update from the system tray, turn that off and always go thru the I.E. windows update. Sometimes the download can be corrupted when you are working on whatever and not notice that it is downloading. They still have a mess of security problems in XP, that A-Holes can get in that way.
