2 out of 3 aint bad (but it isn't a LOTR trilogy either) AllianceAtlantis

*first off so this makes some sence. AllianceAtlantis is the film company for LOTR. lor Of The Rings. and their head office is in Toronto Canada, where I live, and for the past 2 films FOTR and TT, they have had LOTR exhibitons of props and photo's from these two movies. And Peter jackson and the two actors who play Merry and Pippin have attended the opening night of each exhibition. well one might think because JRR Tolkien wrote 3 books and Peter Jackson made 3 movies, one might think ther should be 3 exhibitions for the fans. for whatever atypical corpo-sophistrical reason, they are not having a ROTK exhibition.*

and as such I wrote them an email. Pointless really and futile, and rather naive I know and I admit, but I felt as a LOTR afficiando I was entitled to let them know how I felt. here for any who want to read it; is how I feel about it:

I went to your office yesterday, wednesday oct 8th. I saw your fancy LOTR ROTK KFC bucket. (Kentucky Fried Chicken Return Of The King bucket.) and the statue of Gollum, and all the posters. And yet with all this promotional material in your office, something was missing, hmmm let me think what was it? Oh yes, JRR Tolkien wrote LOTR in 3 Books, Peter Jackson directed 3 movies; one for each book. Both JRR Tolkien and Peter Jackson are visionaries. So too is Horward Shore, who does the music. AND LOTR has and is fast becoming if it has not already, become the Star Wars film\pop\culture phenomina of many of this generation. It is something which young and old alike can embrace as that nostalgic thing which charged and galvanized 3 years of christmas'es and all the time in between. Because lets be honest, a film like LOTR does not happen every day. It does not even happen every decade or generation. Yet here we are, and on behalf of myself and the 'many fans' who for a better turn of phrase "perhaps should get a life" BUT rather choose to view it as experience worth the remembering; we collectors, or fans or fanatics have seen the first 2 movies, and more than once mind you. We have collected every single movie poster, each and every different one put out. We have loyally bought the OST's for the first 2 movies. We have collected all the fast food franchise items, including the soon to be released KFC collectors chicken bucket, we have LOTR games, and action figures, and we have spent a lot of our day to day 9 to 5 grind, sweat and minimum wage, or student shoe string budgets on this movie TRILOGY, yes 3 a trilogy. we have gone all the way with Frodo right into Mordor, and we had our hearts and wallets at the ready. And now the infamous moment approaches which is what this email is all about. On behalf of myself and all those other LOTR devotee's, we went to your first 2 exhibitions for the LOTR movies. A LOTR exhibition for each film. The first at Casa Loma, for Fellowship of The Ring. (and we went more than once) and even so we only took one souvenier program, which we kept (in Mint condition I might add; with all our other 'preciouss' LOTR memorabilia. We went to the Two Towers exhibition and again collected the wonderfully made exhibition program which sits in a place of honor next to the first program, and...with a special space and place for the third and final exhibition program for ROTK. BUT THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE ONE IS THERE! No for whatever atypical corpo-sophical 'whatever' your company is all ready to push on without going all the way to Mordor. I wonder what would have happened if Frodo and Sam just chucked the ring into a field and said **** It, lets go see Kill Bill. I mean it's not like people don't know how LOTR is going to end. And I mean just because Peter Jackson and JRR Tolkien and all the actors and extras and crew who worked on this moment in cinematic history; just because 'they' all had the integrity to go the whole 9 yards, why should we AllianceAtlantis? after all we are just media whores, parasites and scaverngers living off the flesh of whatever is quaint and buzz word, and IN at the moment. LOTR is like so 3 christmas'es ago. KIll Bill and all our other film projects are like so happening. Well my 2 souvenier programs are worthless now. They are just so much paper, and not worth the fancy type face and artwork that went into them. They are no longer worth saving, keeping, collecting or cherishing; without the final installment. So I guess I will just throw them out. I wont even both to recycle them either. That would serve a purpose. And hey, since these 2 programs aren't worht anything, not worth keeping or saving or spending money on; here's a novel idea. Perhaps I should just say no to going to see the last movie. I mean I saw the first 2 and 2 out of 3 aint bad, eh, sound familiar? Wow, thank you AllianceAtlantis for setting such a wonderful example. I guess I wont go see this film several times. And why bother buy the last DVD|Video when it comes out too. And you can save your company some money when it comes time to put out your trilogy DVD box set. Just put Fellowship Of The Ring and The Two Towers in the box set. I mean I don't need to go see a third and final exhibiton. I don't need to collect a third and final souvenier program. And as such I really don't need to go see the third and final movie or buy the last remaining DVD\Video; cause hey 2 out of 3 aint bad. (Gee I reeally wonder how you would take it) if when Oscar night comes around in 2004, if all the Academy voting members decided for whatever sophistry they choose, to completely NOT nominate your film for anything. I mean hey we (the academy) nominated you for the last 2 films. You honestly didn't think we would really bother to nominate your final installment. And to be perfectly honest, we (the academy) are surprised that you would feel dissapointed. I mean just because there just so happens to be three Lord Of The Rings books, I mean quit your complaining.

Yes it is sad really and rather dissapointing. JRR Tolkien and Peter Jackson have Integrity. AllianceAtlantis does not.
