It just took being unpredictable - completely unpredictable to beat him. Even bel Iblis outsmarted him a couple of times, like with the A-wing slash maneuver. He was fallible. Minor spoiler for those who haven't finished it: Especially after they lost Delta Source... So he should have been able to be beaten some other way... but that's just my opinion.
