why theed?

lots of people there?

does it matter what skills i teach??? (meaning, is the aprentice points pool, the same one required for all master titles) or will i only recieve artisan aprentice xp when i teach someone, one of the artisan skills?

I'm in the same boat... need the AP, but most (censored) just go up to masters and ask them to train them, instead of helping the players who actually need the experience... It's really frustrating, and probably another mark against what the developers had planned/hoped for as opposed to how it panned out.

I'd try to get to more populated worlds, Corellia and Tatooine and see if you have any luck there. Naboo, at least on my server, is a wasteland.

Try Coronet instead. Theed, at least on SS, is where all us big dogs go to play. Most of the players I know in Theed are and have been maxxed for quite some time now.

Yeah, it's been that tough to get AP...

That's what I meant, you max it, then teach over and over. Still faster than normally. Myself, I plan on mastering 2 professions and I've already had 1200 AP for a long time. I actually never used this strategy myself Hint: Easy if you're in the Theed Cantina as a higher level Musician or Dancer thasn the majority of the people. Every two seconds: "Can i get so and so skill?" You're already in the group, so just teach away. Ironically, Musician will not be a skill I master.

One thing to remember is that all Apprentice XP is the same. Even if you are going for Master Chef or Master Bio Engineer, etc, you can teach Pistols I or Slicing and it all counts as AXP.

The other thing to remember, especially if you are grinding AXP with a friend, is that different skill box levels have different ratios of AXP granted / player skill points required. You want to maximize this ratio.

For example, Pistols I (Short Range Combat) requires 1000 Pistol XP for the player, and grants 20 Apprentice XP to the teacher. That's a 2% ratio. The next box up, Pistols II, on the other hand, requires 5000 Pistol XP for the player - but when you teach it you only get 30 AXP. That's a 0.6% ratio - more than three times worse. And it gets even worse as you keep going up the tree.

The right way to grind Apprentice XP is to teach Box I in something - anything - again and again and again. Here's how you do it. We'll use Pistols.

You will need the following: [1] a friend who is willing to surrender Pistols down to I or Novice, or never had them (an active friend on another server who is willing to roll a newbie on your server might be a good candidate). [2] a CDEF or D18 pistol. [3] a *good* DL44 or DL44 Metal pistol - spend some money and go for SPEED.

1. Take your friend and the guns to a newbie spawn area like Theed or Coronet. Grab a Stim in case you need to heal them in the first skill box. GROUP with them and stay grouped throughout this exercise.

2. With the CDEF or D18, have them learn Pistols I. Teach that to them for what will be the first of 31 lessons.

3. When the friend gets Pistols I, have them switch to the DL44/DL44 Metal and keep levelling until they hit the Pistol XP cap, which should be double what they need for Pistols II, i.e. 2 x 5000 = 10000 XP. This is where fast high damage DL44 really shines. The levelling friend can just kneel in the corner and use a macro like

/ui action untarget;/ui action cycleTargetOutward;/attack;/pause 15;/ui action toolbarSlot05

which if you put it in F6 will loop forever selecting the nearest mob and zapping it. (Note that grouping is vital - you get a 20% bonus on XP for being in group.)

4. When they hit 10K Pistol XP, have them stop the macro (/dump works) and come close to you, then pull up Ctrl+S and select the Marksman skill page.

5. Do the following exactly 10 TIMES:

a. They surrender Pistols I (they have to type "yes" in a dialog box to confirm).

b. You offer to teach them Pistols I.

c. They accept.

d. Goto (a) :)

6. DON'T SURRENDER THE LAST PISTOLS I. Your friend should keep it so he/she can keep using the nicer gun, and start refilling the Pistol XP pool up to the 10K cap right away.

7. DON'T TEACH HIM PISTOLS II even though the interface offers it! That's a waste of skill points - bad ratio. Keep reteaching Pistols I.

8. Do the above 3 times and you're done. Also, check whether you can teach your friend anything else (a lot of people have a Scout or Medic skill "pending" that they hardly noticed). Remember, all AXP is the same.

9. DON'T USE SPECIALS on the pistol attacks if you can help it. Get a fast gun instead. That way you can level with it forever. :)

schemes and plots all over the place. simpliest answer:

hang out in a very populated city on one of the starting planets, and camp yourself near a starport, cantina or medical center. then wait. when you see somebody that needs a skill you can teach, pounce on them and teach them.

the great thing is if you helped folks from the get-go you'd be all set. I get a kick out of the people that need apprentice xp in a hurry because you KNOW they ignored people they could have helped a couple of weeks ago, and now its biting them in the bum bum.

the last thing you want to do, by the way, is yell what you can teach. when people need something they usually just concentrate on that, and i also think people tune out random yells like popup ads now.

I good way I've found to get apprentice Xp is to meet up with a totally new player and help them out on their first day. Works really good with marksman because you can take them hunting and every time they're ready to raise a level you can do it for them on the spot. Also if you help them on this first day, then they'll probably come back to you later on. It pays to make friends.
