Darth Eggplant Posted October 21, 2003 Share Posted October 21, 2003 last thursday night, due to reruns of both CSI and Without a Trace, I turned on something new on a channel I have only recently heard of, the station is Spike TV. ANd on Spike TV on thursdays from 8pm EST to 11PM EST they play a japanese import show. In Japapn I believe the show is called Takeshi's Castle; here they call it MXC for More Extreme Elimination Chalenges. anyhow I laughed so hard watching this crazy game show? if you call it that. all competetors have crash helmuts and knee and elbow pads for protection; thing is, all contestants end up injuring all the parts of their bodies NOT protected. If you have never seen it, it is so whack. one game is called 'Door Smashers" the whitle blows and the contestants must race down a field towards a giant trough with flour in it. nowbetween then and the flour trough are large walls with doors in them, some of the doors are flimsy and break a way, many are not. the object is to get to the flour trough as quickly as possible, also with as many of your team mates as possible; as each team, all members race at the same time. When and oh yes it happens, when you run you pick a door and ram into it top speed, and hope like hell it's a break a way door, however if it's a real door you tend to bounce off it backwards real good when you runhead long at it. this is one of the games another one and a favourite is this weird obsticle course. it is a long straight course, to your left is a disgusting swampy pool of water. to the right of you most of all the obsticles you have to get past. again speed and staying out of the water is the key. the whistle goes and you race along a blue tile wall, in this wall are three little alcoves, guys in scary movie outfits come out, they try to grab and chuck you into the slimo water, and they will chase you if you go to slowly. after them you have to run under this platform and up top they roll this huge red Indian Jones ball at you, so you can get concked by this. past this you have to jump a short distance and manouver past a big slow wheel thingy, trouble is between the arms of this wheel are gaps you can fall down into. next you have to jump over some spongy things, and then out of a fake brick wall peeps swing giant red wrecking balls with satan's face on them, and if you get hit they could bonk you into the slime cannal. past that are a few more things like a spining platform, three small devil wrecjing balls and finall a rope to swing across to land on a platform and the finish line. the show features teams like people from the travel industry vs peeps from the circus, and the show is hosted by two samurai guys doing their own Kabuki Joe thing. THE REALLY BAD PART of the show is the voice over commentary. i think it is being done by shock jock DJ types trying to be funny, their dialogue is terribly sexists, racists and i found after watching several shows, i turned the sound down and played some music. (unless for some strange reason) the english dialogue is a a translation of what the two Japanese hosts say; (and even then if it is) the dialogue is really bad. it makes me, someone who is very anti politically correct squirm. It is such a great show, it is too bad they had to spoil it with ignorant red neck cracker humour. Even with the offensive comentary this show is worth at least seeing once if you get Spike TV. The challenges themselves are funny, as well as the field agents with the show. I was watching one challenge where the object was to stay on an electric bull and hit a target with a water gun while riding. If you fell off, a huge guy dressed up as an eggplant (weird, eh Eggy?) would spray the contestant with a fire extinguisher. At one moment in the competition, the guy dressed up as an eggplant attempted to spray the fallen contestant, but fell over in the process, so the field host (guy in white suit, carrying plastic sword) began whacking the fallen eggplant. Darth Eggplant Posted October 23, 2003 Author Share Posted October 23, 2003 I'll have to see that Eggplant get beaten black and blue and aubergine:D I liked when one of the scary movie guys rushed out of his blue tile alcove, and lunges for a contestant, missed them and then went ass over tea kettle into the ooze river, instead of the contestant. I find the commentary to be a bit racy at sometimes, but most of the time, I find it hilarious! My favorite games are the Log one, the Rock one, and the one where its just a long obsticle course with one part called the blender, and another called the "Nards of Doom!" It was funny as hell. Or that guy that did the splits across the rock and just kinda folded over like he was dead. OR the guy who dove onto the land and almost stuck his head 2 feet in da mud. Hyperglide Posted October 23, 2003 Share Posted October 23, 2003 Log Drop and Burping Obese Japanese women is the funniest thing ever on MXC. Nothing else on that show compares to it. Just watch. This one obese women who has a gastro problem takes her first step and then rolls off and faceplants on the 2nd log, not even trying to avoid it (she didn't stick or hands out even to brace her impact or try to reach the next log, she like walked right into thin air!!). PRICELESS!!! LOLOL. Then the recoil of her head whiplashes her cranium back in the first log and her head bounces of that. THENNN she just drops right into the water like a torpedo (japs love them). So hilarious how she just drops like a rock. I must've replayed the replay (we have it recorded on VHS so I rewind it and play it back) about 10 x just laughing hysterically. I think those logs are foam or something because she didn't lose any teeth. Oh another favourite event of mine is, the one where they roll consectutive boulders down this hill that's enclosed by two walls large enough just to squeeze by the boulders. The jap's have to avoid them by going into these little alcoves and then keep running up this very steep slope, in which the MXC staff push them out afterwords.
