Okay, first things first, this isn't a topic asking if my drawings stink or not. I just couldn't think of a better title.

I'm just curious about what people think about this little category of pictures I've created, which seems to be the only one of its kind so far: pictures depicting both Roger Wilco of the SQ series, obscure, bumbling galactic janitor; and Guybrush Threepwood of the Monkey Island series, somewhat well-known bumbling 17th century pirate.

I've been part of the adventuring community for several years, and one of the only places I really "became part of" was The Subspace Channel, a meeting place for the Space Quest Community. Many times I heard people saying that Roger Wilco (the protagonist of the SQ series) and Guybrush Threepwood (a character that I had yet to grow acquainted with) were either distant relatives or long-lost, separated-at-birth-and-transported-to-different-times-and-places brothers.*

I thought this was just a theory that could be made with any blonde (though perviously brown-haired) male adventurer with an amazing ability to carry just about anything in his pants pockets...until I played MI, that is.

Then, all became clear. I had the irrepressable need to depict these two side-by-side, and as the resident artist of the Sierra circuit, I was in just the position to do such a thing. So now I've invaded the Mi community and started posting my little scribblings at two different locations.

I'm just asking, are these kind of pictures all right? They may not be typical MI-fare, but anyone who has played MI and SQ can probably understand the reason for these pictures. It just seems that putting Roger and Guybrush in the same time and space can result in some pretty funny stuff. I've even written a lengthy exchange of insults between R and G, in which they diss both their rivals and their rival's creators, among other things. I think it would make a good Flash video.

Or, are these drawings just something that hardly anyone will really "get," and something that should only be dabbled in once or twice?

Or does nobody know what I'm talking about?

Anyway, my speech is over, and I hope that at least few people will reply to this.

Thank you,

Akril

*the latter theory now seems a little far-fetched (relatively speaking, of course), because (insert spoiler-ridden summary of MI2's ending, including pointless rants and arguments here), and Roger is probably more than twice Guybrush's age.

Okay, first of all, when time travel is concerned, age is not a factor (okay, understatement of the century, but in this situation, it isn't) but i'm not getting into that.

First of all, this seems like a really good idea, and considering I've already seen your work on the scumm bar (yeah, people actually see that stuff you know) it seems like it'll work.

My only quibble here is... and it's just a small thing i'm worried about... that absolutely no where in this thread have you yet explained...

...where we can actually view your work. We can't really judge whether it's god or not without seeing it now can we.

Oh, I do that all the time, write up a whole long post and then forget to post a link to what I was babbling about. It's a bit embarrassing.

And Akril, I've seen a few of your pieces...I've never met this Roger guy, but I like them. I meant to comment on the one where Roger and Guybrush are in the Scumm Bar, but forgot somehow. That one just cracks me up! :D

Well, doesn't that just take the biscuit.

I didn't forget on purpose. I just thought that since I always link here from the SCUMM bar, that everyone else did the same thing, and...

All right, my keypad is missing a few numerals, I'll admit. My current crossovers can be found here. (Oh, and thank you very much, TR!)

Not your fault, this is the official forum of The Scumm Bar, but it is also the combined official forum of The Brimstone Beachclub forums and the ever dying Escapemi forums, they did all used to be seperate, but are now merged as one.

The pictures are pretty funny by the way, I loved the old space quest series and roger was just hilarious. keep it up.
