txa1265
Hi all: I played the demo for this game, and unlike so many others recently - I was *MORE* excited after the demo. When it was due originally 10/28 that slotted perfectly for me. Now it is coming out 11/18 - same day as KotOR. Within two weeks of Deus Ex Invisible War and Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. And I'm having a hard time seeing myself playing it before Christmas. (aside from details such as work, family and Christmas shopping ) What does everyone else think? Mike
Samuel Dravis
No kidding. I want to get RotK, the NWN Gold pack, and KotOR. And I don't think my parents are going to let me. XIII Looks ok, but I don't really like the look. I tried playing that one Zelda Windwaker game for GC (I believe they both use a similar shading effect), and I didn't like it much there. So, it's really your preference. And if you will survive everyone harassing you about getting a game for yourself this close to Christmas.
coupes.
I look foward to playing this game, I haven't played the demo, but I know I'll love the full game. I think the look of the game is perfect, and really, it couldn't have been made any other way since the games is inspired from a comic i beleive. StormHammer
I played the SP demo and liked it. I've yet to try the MP demo. Anyway, I like the cel-shaded look of the game, and the comic-book style. I didn't like some of the inherent linearity apparenty in the demo - you can't jump over a low fence, or go down into the water - but I guess that's a problem with most FPS games, so it's pointless moaning about it. I'll probably be getting it. There aren't very many FPS titles due out before the end of the year now, anyway - in the UK at least. Hopefully it won't be another 'short' game. Haven't you done your reading? Call of Duty has 25 Epic Missions (translation: another less than 8 hour game) ... When reviews don't mention shortness of games, and we buy them in droves, we reward short games ... I've seen more comments about JA being short (at ~20 hours) than either Halo (<10) or CoD (~8) ... txa1265
Well ... I just put it on my Christmas list, along with Tron 2.0. That way, if my wife decides to get it or pass it on to someone else ... I'll get it. Otherwise I'll just grab it in January. toms
i was looking foreward to this more than most of the crop of FPSs that were due out this year. However I found the demo to be hugely disappointing. It was disappointing enough to get me to cancel my pre-order in fact. I liked the look of the game (although i was disappointed the levels weren't actually properly cell shaded), especially the cool cartoon effects like the zoom-ins and box-outs. However I found it horribly limiting in terms of linearity, with nothing to do except run and shoot. And i didn't really find that as much fun as some run and shoot games. I also didn't really like the (generic) weapons, but i guess that is personal. BTW/ just got Viewtiful Joe, which goes for a very similar "comic" look in terms of graphics, but i found that it actually integrated it's unique look into the Gameplay, making it a really great game. txa1265
I picked up KotOR this morning, and noticed that XIII was selling for $39.99 (at EBGames) rather than $49.99 like most 'AAA' titles. Mike
