nycgamer
I really love the look of MYST but the game itself is very dull. It's probably safe to say that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will have some of the coolest looking in-game environments ever. Same with Far Cry, DOOM 3 and HL2. I’ve been playing through TRON 2.0 as fast as I can because I can’t wait to see the next level. The levels are brilliant!! For anyone who hasn’t played it, I highly recommend the gold demo (http://www.tron20.net). Morrowind, Mafia, and Vice City also all have remarkable in-game worlds for sheer size and things to explore. Max Payne 2 has a lot of interactivity with environmental objects which lends realism to the experience. What do you think makes a gaming environment great and which games do you think set the standard?
nycgamer
Call Of Duty also deserves mention here. The battle environments in Call Of Duty are the best I've ever seen in a WWII game ~ they create a sense of space, size, distance and atmosphere that makes games such as Medal Of Honor look artificial and constricting. So, for 'realistic' environments, I would give the award to COD ~ at least until S.T.A.L.K.E.R. comes out. For sheer "DAZZLE", I'd still give it to TRON... Aodh
Morrowind is my personal favourite. It needs a super computer to run with the graphics up full, but my god it's beautiful. Especially when it's rainnig and the individual rain drops hit pools of water that shimmers and distorts you reflexion. It's amazing.
Rogue15
Morrowind and the expansions Knights of the Old Republic (manaan and taris are nice) Brute Force Turok Evolution (tho the game is fricken hard i managed to beat it)

The only problem I had with Morrowind was I got sick and tired of constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, being attacked by oversized rats and bats. I'd be on my way somewhere, lose most of my health battling some rodent, then have to sleep the rest of the day to recover. Let's get real here ~ I have an axe. A very large axe. Not to mention steel armor. How much of a threat would these creatures truly be? Otherwise, great game. So I take it you have a really good computer, in which case you really MUST play TRON 2.0 if you're into beautiful in-game worlds. What games are you currently playing on PC? Lord Haine
manaan sure was nice in KotOR, but it sucked my resources up more than a hungry baby, /frown other than that, um... i dunno about "beautiful" but the most fascinating for me was in Half Life 1, the ingame world was truly brilliant! FCMan
Okay I gotta say that Dantooine in SWG is so friggin beautiful that you have to use a slower mode of transport just to enjoy it all. The devs did a lot of extra work for that planet. The water looks so realistic that my character looks down-right cartoony by comparison. That and Dantooine in KOTOR(hehe) mainly for the sad music that plays there, and the water ffect(so few games get the shimmer just right). Then there's um....Myst? And of course FarCry(till it got sci-fiey and inside base type). That's it for now.
