Well i thought i might start a thread for all the poor souls who dont have the game yet and are waiting patiently for it (like me...13 days left!) I thought maybe if someone has any questions about the game before actually owning it..for example what classes are good for what (although that is answered on the official site), they could post them here and maybe an experienced player could drop by and answer them :) :) Please dont post spoilers though OK hope u guys get the game soon :) :)

Scout is the best class, IMO. I have the PC version, and I tried both other classes and they were either too weak (scoundrel) or too stupid (soldier). The best Jedi class is Consular. Even if you're weak, you can still wipe the enemy out with force powers, and heal your party up easily. Be sure to get Force Wave, and Master Speed, they are a couple of the most useful and most powerful powers.

Well, I started out as a soldier level 4 / guardian level 4, but I have started over with a scout (planning to go to level 3 and then switch to guardian). Certainly, the soldier/guardian combination is a good one, especially for straight up combat. I just felt that with so few skill points, my character was really only good at combat. This is fine, and I'm sure I would have no problems finishing the game that way. There are lots of NPCs to do the other things.

But I wanted my character to be a bit more well rounded, and to me the scout starting point provides that without being bad at combat. I have my character at scout level 3 and already I can do way more things (apart from combat) than my soldier/guardian could. Combat is best part of the game, but one of the things that KOTOR does so well is make you feel that you are part of the universe. There is so much to interact with that I felt that I was missing out a bit with the limited skills of my soldier.

The reason why I am getting my scout to level 3 and then waiting to switch to a guardian is because for the first three levels the scout gets a feat for each one (just like soldier), has better saving throws than soldier, and only has an attack bonus of one less.

I don't believe that the Soldier / Guardian is only good at combat. Sure, you get more feats and fewer skills, but if you focus your skills and use your NPC's, you can get a very satisfying result. I know I sure have - I played first as a 6/14 Scoundrel/Consular, and am currently on course for a 5/15 Soldier / Guardian, and have been involved in many important non-combat side-quests very successfully.

True. Saying that the soldier/guardian combination is only good at combat is overstating it. I just felt that that combination was a bit limited for the type of character I was wanting to play. I wanted a little less reliance on NPCs and just a feeling that my character was more well rounded. Now I have sort of a smugglerish character that will turn into a guardian. This is strickly a personal perference, and by no means do these choices affect how successful you'll be at the game. All combinations seem to be pretty well balanced as far as I can tell. :)

Aha...i have a question! I have read that, depending on what crystals you insert into your saber, it will change colors and attributes. I have also read that color doesnt matter for the saber but attributes do and the most common crystal is red. So, here my question:

If i want to become a light Jedi, and i put red crystals into the attribute slots of my saber, will that, in the long run, gain me Dark skill points??

If this doesnt make sense, i appologise for my lack of knowledge of the game, but i stil have 12 days left before i get it.

Thanks to anyone who answers my question!!! :D :D :D

Indeed. Alhough there is a little explanation about the saber colors(mostly that the color can show what kind of Jedi you are), but the Jedi Masters also mention that you have to abide with the code and can pretty much take what color you want.

In case you're interested, the same thing also applies to most clothes and items, although a few are 'Light/Dark side only'. My Light Jedi, for example, wore the Dark Jedi Master robes throughout the game. Not because it gives him special properties, not because it was a signal to his opponents(Hey, I've beaten your masters, I can beat you!), but only because it looked cool on my character.

I don't know, I didn't really like the Jedi Knight robes. Bastilla got to wear those, but I had my character in the usual Jedi Robes, because I really didn't like blue on him at all.

I don't know, black just looked good on my character. It kinda makes him stand out in the Jedi Crowd, kinda like how Anakin does. I mean, just look at my character.

Wow that's a really nice character Burrie. I didn't know that the character detail would stand out to such close scrutiny, like in some games ive played *cough*Warcraft 3*cough*, but they do and thats nice!!! :D :D :D:duel2:

Your saber has 3 crystal slots.

Left and right side are 'upgrade' slots, which use a crystal that alters the attributes of the saber.

Center is for color, which is purely a personal choice thing - I use a different color for different NPC's (keeping blue for myself, of course) so I can remember who has what.

What I just said is completely true for the XBox, but as we know, there are a few differences for the PC.
