Jabba The Hunt Posted January 19, 2004 Posted January 19, 2004 Im posting this using the new fedora release, which I just got installed today, with several peoples help. Anyway wondered if anyone else has had a chance to try it out and what they thought of it?

Jabba The Hunt Posted January 23, 2004 Author Posted January 23, 2004 Yar, its basically the new free version of red hat but they wanted to stop supporting it so they could concentrate on getting a stable enterprise edition, so they renamed the standard one fedora. And Im No Pimp!

Yeah, Mandrake is one of the best Linux distros, w/a bunch of free software with it (I think). DO NOT GET SuSE LINUX!!! It stinks! (And it's made by Novell. Ugh.)

Yeah i agree with you, linux aint for the ordinary user, infact is a long way from going mainstream however im doing a computing course, and well I have to learn it sometime

I've spent real time with Linux. I've spent real time with Linux fanatics. The verdict? I hate it. And the people who love it are mostly what I like to call "techno-hippies" - peace, love, and open source man, yeah... Mostly these people just love to hate Microsoft. Is Linux technically a more robust operating system? In many ways, yes. Are you ever going to need or notice this? Probably not. In some cases, like if I'm running a webserver, I'll use Linux. But I would shoot myself in the face before I would ever put that crap on my home system.

You do realise that mac os x is based off BSD yeah?
