Codja X
I think Anakin was 9 and Padme 14 in EP1. Ep2 is 10 years later. Nothing wrong with older ladies - she'll make a man of him!
lukeiamyourdad
Yeah I don't mind older women. As long as they are not tooo old. Look at say...Famke Janssen. I wouldn't mind being with her and she's like 21 years older then me. *points at avatar*
Codja X
I would hardly call Famke Jansen old, but then again, i'm getting on a bit myself. why does everybody hate ep1 and ep2? because there are too many old women in it:) I was wondering who your avatar was... Codja X
Get in there son! She's that old? Still a fox though. [trying to steer thread back on track] One of the major faults in Ep1 and Ep2 is that Famke Jansen doesn't play a Dark Jedi seductress, bent on dominating the clean, pure minds of the Jedi to her evil, older woman ways. back on track! joesdomain
I grew up on the original trilogy. I wasn't alive to see the first star wars movie because I was born in 1979. I was able to see all three of the original trilogy movies around 1983 or 1984. My friend got me hooked and ever since then I watch them lots of times a year plus I buy star wars video games for PC, playstation one, and playstation 2. I stood in line for 5 hours to see the 12:01am showing of both episode I and II. I loved both of them. Most people hate the movies because it doesn't involve han solo, leia, luke, chewie, darth vader(mechanical), and the empire. I think alot of people are so used to Lucas's special effects and visua effects of the late 1970's and 1980's. They see the new visual effects for today's movies and they can't stand it in star wars movies. That is why they love the cgi in spiderman, harry potter, lord of the rings, and matrix. Those movies were designed for CGI of today when the movie maker came up with the story. Also, Prequel trilogy is Lucas's chance to show how huge the galaxy is and the other worlds of star wars. joesdomain
I think some of the people were still mad at Lucas for including ewoks in Return of the Jedi when he originally was going to have endor the wookie homeworld. Then he adds more child-like species like gungans in episode I that are cgi. That really made star wars purist mad. Not to mention the other cgi in the movie. I have had a chance to talk many people and they said the problem besides jar jar, gungans, cgi was they fact that jake Lloyd was cast as anakin. Then again I have heard people complaining about Lucas starting the prequel trilogy when anakin was 10 years. One person suggested started the episode I when anakin is 17 or 18. joesdomain
Episode II's problem was again cameo by jar jar, cgi, and casting hayden christenson as anakin. Plus the fact that there was too much of a love story. Most star wars fans are men under the age of 55. There are very few girls and women who like the saga. That is why star wars couldn't make Titanic's worldwide gross numbers. Women love drama, romance, mysteries, comedies, and stories. Men like action, adventure, sci-fiction, some comedies, and horror movies.
Prism
Look on the bright side....at least in episode 3 anakin wont use a pink light saber like in 4 5 and 6. hopefully he'll use red And hopefully 3 wont suck as much as 1 and 2 -.- I just want to see how windu gets owned
Isair
For the most part I like Episode 1, what bothered me was Jar Jar a bit. He was always continuing on about himself in spite of what was really happening. Although it is funny to see the reactions of characters to his responses. Also the space battles wern't nearly as epic as some of those of the original, that was a bit disappointing. I mean it showed few scenes of what took place up there, just ending with Anakin flying into the hanger and blowing the reactor. Then the gungans.....I can't quite describe them, they're just odd. Episode 2 was even better, Jar Jar appeared alot less although he played an important role in getting the senate to give Palpatine emergency powers. At least he had some use in progressing the story unlike all his other useless actions. The love scenes were strange, maybe there was too much of it. Mostly when they were on Naboo. They also fall in love almost as soon as they meet again, even Padme admits this. I find that wierd. Anakin could have been better an actor I suppose, I thought everyone else was fine except maybe Padme, she also was very heavy on the love. I was angry though when Jango was just killed like that.....seemed abrupt to me. Kind of stems down to what you guys spoke of. Of how fast it's all progressing in the prequels. I mean Jango gets his head loped off in the movie he's introduced in, shows little of his legacy. Otherwise Episode 2 was pretty good, Yoda fighting was quite something. dark jedi 8
yeah but quick deaths aren't new to the saga, just look at obi-wan, boba fett, emperor palpatine, jabba, tarkin. i guess GL doesn't like to do character development unless he really has to. Kryllith
Well technically Boba would be digested over 1000 years (more probably, given his armour) so he'd probably die of thirst over a couple days. Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm a fan of all the movies, and for the most part all the characters, even Jar Jar. Heck, the only problem I have with Jar Jar is the "exqueeze me" and "how wude", the latter because it makes him sound like Mary Kate/Ashley Olsen as Michelle Tanner as opposed to C-3P0's "How rude" elsewhere in the saga. I found the forced punnish comedy of 3P0 in the latter part of Ep II more annoying than Jar Jar... Also wanted to say that I'm an avocate of NOT seeing the Anakin-to-Vader transition. Vader's revelation was pivotal to Empire, and to the build up for Jedi. I rather enjoyed the surprise, and would prefer future generations to be surprised as well. As far as keeping it a secret in III, I don't think it will be as hard as people tend to think... Kryllith
