Actually, you don't need to update kotOR at all to use an Override folder for your xbox. I thought I had to as well but I don't have xbox live and I never will. So I messed around a little bit with the

"swdirsXbox.ini" and found this entry -->OVERRIDE=d:\Override.

So I changed it to "OVERRIDE=e:\Override" because kotOR is now on my Xbox HDD.

And this is where I put the Override folder using FlashFXP:

/E/TDATA/4c410003/Override/ <----In your Xbox.

So e:\TDATA\4c410003\ Is where you put the Override folder for all your mods to work. (They will now work!)

You don't need the Yavin download to have a working Override folder like so many people think.

Oh! one thing I need to add---> to those of you that have a bigger Xbox HardDrive with an F: Partition,

The Override Folder still has to go into /E/TDATA/4c410003/Override/ Not F Partition, there is no TDATA there.

To all the PC modders: I was so happy when all your mods showed up on my xbox, "Mech Malak, Good/Evil Bastila, Yuthura Ban Recruit, and especailly The ArmBand Warp!"

You are all welcome here.

I may try my hand at importing mods to the xbox too ( if I find enough time ...)

Importing mods to the xbox is going to take up your time for sure! "lol" The problem is not exporting mods to the xbox,

The problem is getting the Xbox set up to receive imports thus needs to be modded.

Basically, If you're used to modding Kotor content with your PC then I would say "Just stick with that" lol.

PC and the Xbox KotOR are not that different from one another, just about generally the same except for a few folder names, the menu graphics, and the executables are the only parts that I know to be different..

But if you're really, really into this like I am, then you are in for some xbox surgery! lol

Remember your xbox warenty becomes -VOID- Once you open it!

So I recommend buying a used one to mod...

Dak, thanks for the info on the override folder. I was wondering why my override wasn't kicking in. Can't wait to try it tonight.

One question: for mods that call for console commands to activate, am I S.O.L.? How have you incorporated these mods?

The warpband works great on the xbox. I jumped all over the game from the Endar Spire and back again without a hitch.

For the most part, the mods work as expected. But I'm sure there's a wall to hit somewhere, I just haven't found it yet. ...which reminds me, I wanted to try the force transformation mod.

Using console commands to import items is only one option for getting them into the game. I just fill a container with whatever I want and dump all related files into the OR folder. Works everytime.

....the force morph mod works fine too. Very cool.

Now that is something I've been stuck on. How in the world do you make the Taris Metal Bins and Plasteel Bins available for opening, have items in them, and what not? The Metal Boxes in the south apartments are just props, but I remember with your Beta Save, all the boxes had items and stuff ready for grabs. This is one of the many things I have yet to figure out! “Weird” I thought they were apart of the area’s static load.

Maybe not

That was tough because I didn't use the override folder at that time. I looked at the placeables in NWN viewer and found the bytes that set the useability of the container.

Then I just altered those bytes in a hex editor (editing the rim itself).

It took some doing and surprised me when it actually worked.

I would assume changing the bins and boxes most be done without changing the byte size of the tar_m02aa_s.rim..

Ok here's my trip: My lap top cannot play the pc version of kotor because this graphic card only supports 2MB video memory At 24 bit "lol That's pathetic!" It's an old piece of crap!

But have the pc kotor installed anyways just for the purpose of using kotor Tool. The reason I did this is because, kotor tool will read the xbox chitin.key, but won't display the folders, files, and bifs correctly. And there’s no texture folder either.

So now kotor tool is reading the pc's kotor directories and chitin.key thus all the bifs, rims, mdls, utc, 2da, and textures are all there, I can edit the utc files and then extract them and put them in the unpacked template.bif file then repack it, ftp it to the xbox's cache, databox, and it works! "so far"

I’m going to actually attempt to see if the xbox will accept a “modified 2da.bif” from the pc’s version by editing it with in kotor tool, then extracting it, but since there is no “2da.bif” in the xbox’s kotor dataxbox folder, I’m going to try to ftp it into “:y\cache\databox\” and see what that will do… “heh!”

StormAngel, If you’ve already tried this with luck or no luck please let me know, otherwise

God Speed to me!

Actually, you don't have to go that far. Dump your edited 2da files into the Override folder and you're on your way.

I haven't done enough testing with this to find the bugs yet, but I do know that a 2da in the override folder will override those in the global.rim (which is where they're hidden in the xbox version).

I put a PC mod with an edited spells.2da in my override folder where I already had a modified global.rim and the 2da worked fine, while the global.rim returned to normal. The spells.2da within that rim was not edited, but apparently it was still overridden entirely.

  • 1 year later...

C'mon guys! I have a modded XBox and i've been modding for a couple weeks now. I'm currently modding the crap out of a lightsaber (pc mods work just fine, just don't use .mdl or .mdx files, since those are completely different than PC). There is an Override folder (You have to make it) on your E:/games/Star Wars KOTOR 2/ Override area and voila, instant mods.
