ZBomber
I'm getting hacked from these ****ing pop up ads. YES! Hacked! Welchia worm. How do I know? I left my PC on, overnight. I come back next morning, I have like 20 ****ing pop-ups from here, and HIGH RISK: INTRUSION ALERT! popping everywhere. Took 30 minutes to get rid of all the alerts, I must have had atleast 300. Do something damn it!

pbguy1211
You know what, it does add emphasis. And as someone else said, if you're aware of it, do something about it. It's been days and I just got another one. Learn how to run a forum in the professional manner. In other words, give a damn about the people coming here. By extention of them, YOU people are giving me this virus. You don't care about the people here, just the money they're giving you. Thanks a lot. Joshi
Just get a better browser. It's not Ugo's fault (well... okay it is) and it's not LF's fault (not entirely) but it is IE's fault as it should have a feature on it which doesn't allow popups (instead of using an external popup stopper which I'm sure many of you are doing with no success, trust me, I was once like this). I don't get popups. How? I use mozilla Firefox as an Internet Browser. It's free and actually better than IE in many ways. Just switch, search for the website (search for mozilla, simple as that) and dopwnload it. I do than and literally don't get any popups or unwanted cookies. Yeah, LF could do something, but it;s uslually up to you to have a decent web browser and virus checker and all LF can do is stop you from getting trojans fron LF, ot the entire internet, only you can do that. Kurgan
Since the vast majority of internet users utilize Microsoft's (crappy) browser, that means the majority of people will continue to get spyware and viruses from us. Bad, bad, bad... ; p

Why should LF get rid of all popups and banners just so you can be a lazy arse and not get a better browser LF can only protect you from LF, Mozilla Firefox can protect you from pretty much most of the internet (I'm guessing you venture outside of LF from time to time and find a whole big internet out there). And with a small extension, you can even get rid of annoying banner ads. I'm giving this as a suggestion for something you can do, rather than waiting for someone else to do something for you. remember, LF is completely free to you, meaning you actually don't have to pay any real money to use this site, and that's at the small expense of seeing a few banner ads and popups. Yes, the popups come up with trojans and the LF staff are trying to get rid of them, but you can deal with it by either getting a better browser (people use IE because it's already there, it's the first solution you get for web browsing, but not the best solution) or by leaving, no one's forcing you to come here, you're paying for an internet connection, you paid for a computer and web access, you might as well get a free browser and be happy. Oh this will be good... LF shouldn't be such sell outs as to accept money for ad sales from a company that's giving their users viruses. They should be more considerate to us as people and not just view us as a number on their counter. LF is free to us. Why? Because they sell ad space. They base the money for that ad space based on a number of hits they receive at their site. Guess what, if we stop coming here they can't sell the space. And guess what, this isn't the only forum on the net. There are many others, and they don't give me trojan viruses. And don't give me this holier than thou bullsh*t you're spouting about getting a better browser. The IE browser is fine. It doesn't create the virus, and it only accepts it because it's given by YOU GUYS. LF can only protect me from LF? I visit LF, I get viruses from the LF site. LF provides the virus. They aren't protecting me from crap. They're providing it. I bet you were proud of that when you wrote it, you really were weren't you? Okay, here we go, please note, I was trying to be nice before. First of all IE is old and crap. Deal with it. It's behind the times in so many ways but Microsoft really can't be arsed to do something about it, like provide you with a good browser that simply doesn't allow these kinds of things through. Do you really thing UGO wants you to have trojans on your computer? These trojans are the result of some sad pathetic loser who wants to harm peoples computers so they hack into seemingly harmless, but popular, ads and add their viruses. UGO is probably hard to get in touch with at the mo because they're probably trying to deal with it. But until then, do you really think that whenever you get a problem you should just ask someone else to deal with it for you. Wherever you go on the internet there will be ads and sites like this...despite what you think, this isn't a nice world..., you can't possibly go to all of them and say "Hey, by the way, your ads are hurting my computer, can you tell them to stop...please", no, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. Have you never heard that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself? Oh, and exactly what does LF owe it's people? If anything, we owe them, they came up with the forums and provided it free of charge. How? With ads, and UGO seems to do the best deal (they didn't always provide trojans by the way, UGO has been a strong ad provider for many years with no problems, it's only recently). They didn't sell out. Remember, you're asking for the best from a free site, IT'S FREE! Just be happy with what you've got and sort out the rest yourself. And when I said that LF can only protect you from LF, I meant that if and when they sort things out with UGO, it'll only be for this site, the rest of the internet out there will still be after your arse and if you don't do something about it, they'll get it. And what are you talking about "Holier than thou bullshit?" All I'm saying is Mozilla is better than IE...fact. Face it.

Because without forum members, you don't have a forum. Good enough? By not getting a new browser, I'm not hurting anyone. By supporting virus ad hosters, you ARE giving people viruses, and viruses ARE illegal. Fact - Viruses aren't good. Keep them and lose members, or get rid of them and keep the valuable ones you have. Joshi
I didn't say we were gonna keep the viruses. Of course we're gonna get rid of them, but it'll take time, so in the mean time, why not get a better browser. You are infact hurting yourself by not getting a better one as you're allowing in the viruses.
pbguy1211
When trying to make an arguement, saying an ad company "seems to do the best deal " isn't making a good point since you don't actually know that they do. Furthermore, saying that you can't get in touch with them because they are "probably hard to get in touch with at the mo because they're probably trying to deal with it" doesn't mean much since you don't actually know that that's why you can't get in touch with them. The might actually be ignoring you. Because... "despite what you think, this isn't a nice world." You don't know what I think. So don't assume that you do. Because you know what happens when you make an assumption. You make an ass out of you, and umption.
matt--
Before I comment on anything, I'd like to say that I can do nothing about these virii, as I have to access to out Ugo account information and therefore I cannot file a complaint. It bothers me that this is going on, especially since very little seems to be changing. We have been discussing it in the admin forum, but without the intervention of someone that has this information, nothing can be done. Those people that have access to said info, are apparently either very busy contacting Ugo (not likely), fighting to save the planet and/or a busload of children (even less likely), or are embroiled in the affairs of their average, day to day, secret identities (very likely). I wish it wasn't the fact of the matter, but it probably is. No one wants them to come back more than I do. And now, onto the fun stuff. Originally posted by pbguy1211 Oh this will be good... LF shouldn't be such sell outs as to accept money for ad sales from a company that's giving their users viruses. Allow me to illustrate with a flowchart. They should be more considerate to us as people and not just view us as a number on their counter. Like I said, nothing I can do. You're also making it seem as though we're allowing or otherwise consenting to Ugo putting viral ads on our account. We are not. LF is free to us. Why? Because they sell ad space. They base the money for that ad space based on a number of hits they receive at their site. Guess what, if we stop coming here they can't sell the space. Wrong, wrong, and wrong. LF is free to you because of a partner ship with Ugo. Money is payed out on a per-click basis. If you (people that don't click on the ads) stop coming here, it won't make a difference in revenue or price. The revenue comes from the people that actually click through. Have you ever clicked through? And guess what, this isn't the only forum on the net. There are many others, and they don't give me trojan viruses. Good observation. We are not providing you with viral code. Our ad company is, unfortunately. Therefore, wherever you might go that has a Ugo ad, there is a possiblity that you will get a virus. The IE browser is the worst popular browser on the market. Aside from supporting its own features more than the standards set by the W3 committee, it also is farthest behind in security. I have used opera and have never received so much as a popup from LF. When a security bug is discovered in opera, it is patched within hours. IE takes up to months to release a patch, if it ever does. And how many people that use IE apply patches? Do you, pbguy? I'm going to make another image that uses your logic to prove how its ultimately IE's (or the users) fault. In conclusion, you are saying that we are providing the virus in effect. By accepting money for the services rendered by Ugo, we are supporting the propogation of existing virii and promoting the creation of newer malicious code. Well, all that I have to say is that users who do not patch their systems are providing all the necessary support. Guess why virus programmers use this method to download virii! The reason is because it works. Why does it work? Because people don't patch their browsers or upgrade to less vulnerable ones. If they did, the people who code such things would have fewer ways to spread them, and some, not all, would stop writing them.
