legameboy
Nope. Day VI: I woke up at 7:30 or 8:00am, and by that time I was almost late for the rendevous which was at the hotel's restaurant. I jumped in some clothes and took off with my afro that had developed that night. My dad had decided we eat at the hotel restaurant... which we did... but it took them two hours to get all of our food. We were just a little bit behind schedule. After that, the group, my dad, me and Reyes' family headed to Pastor Emilio's (a good friend of my dad's) church in central Colima, Colima to pick up Liz (a good friend of mine... she's... 27), then everyone in my dad's truck, Reyes' truck, and the bus headed over to a nearby town at a specific street named after a day and a month. (There's a lot of these so I forgot the name.) I got into the gorilla suit (a mascot suit that's sweltering hot... and even hotter than that when your in extremely humid 90 degree weather) and Nick (a person from the group, a Michigander, lol) got into another gorilla suit and we jumped onto one of the pastor's friend's truck and went around several blocks acting like idiots, hehe, everyone we saw liked it though, the kids were smiling and giggling, the adults were waving and chuckling... it was a great feeling. After we had invited all the people, the street meeting began, Liz had the introduction and then Reyitos (note Reyitos means little Reyes in Spanish... father and son are named the same) and I came out (still wearing the gorilla suit) and sang some songs (I didn't sing, I just pantomimed, lol.) After that me, Reyitos, Adriana, Eva, Fatima, and Prisila did a little skit to entertain the croud a bit, then we had some puppet shows, some dramas from the group (this was about all they did :-\), and then at the end we an altar call and we ministered to people, lots of kids came to Christ that day. After the ministering I ran out and played with the kids some (still in the gorilla suit). I finally took the gorilla suit off, and when I did, I was completely soaked from forehead to foot. I went out from behind the stage again (we have a couple of wooden frames which we set up and drape cloth over... it's our makeshift stage for the puppets, and we keep the sound equipment, candy, puppets... just about everything behind there when we do a street meeting) the kids were saw that I was a "gringo" and were shocked when I could actually speak to them! Heh. After the meeting everyone went to Pastor Emilios church and we had carne asada con arroz y frijoles... or just fried beef with rice and beans. It was delicious. We left the church after we ate and headed back to the hotel, I took a dip in the pool they had there, then went up and changed for the night. A couple minutes later, we were headed to do another street meeting (it was 5 or 6pm). Once we got there, it was the usual routine, I got in the gorilla suit again, and someone else by the name of Nathan got in the other gorilla suit and we jumped on the truck to go invite people... this was bad though... kids started throwing rocks at us, and jumping of the truck's bumper, lots of them were following us. I pantomimed that they should jump off of the truck because if they fell it would hurt... but they wouldn't listen to me because they knew I was a gringo. Finally, after many rocks and many kids on the bumper, I told them in plain Spanish to get off the truck or else when they fall it'll be a pretty nasty little bruise. So finally, they jumped off and we got back to the "stage" near the abandoned house we were doing it in front of. The meeting was the same as before, except these kids were wild, extremely wild. After the meeting, we ate tacos dorados (but they were... burnt), they tasted alright though... except the beans that were in them were black... and toasted, lol. When I was walking around eating my food I tripped and my food fell off the plate into the dirt. Reyitos and I had a new name for them... tacos al carbon empanisados. (If any of you can figure out what that means in English I'll give you a big cookie.) At about 12:30am we headed back to the hotel, with a few great jokes along the way from Filipe and Reyitos... and crashed at 1:00am.

legameboy
Day VI: A repetition of day five, a little bit more fun since I was getting to know the group. All in all a great time once again. I picked up a whole lot more Spanish, and I got to know choffuer a bit better... he was a really cool guy.
