NPC support in Multiplayer???

This may have already been mentioned....but I was wondering if in multiplayer there is a large NPC supporting the human players

 

so in a ps2 battle of 8 vs 8...would it look like 30 vs 30 becase of the NPCs

No, i was jsut saying that if there are 16 human players in a game...then witht the addition of NPCs into the battle (if there are NPCs) would it mak it 16 human players and then another 20 Non human players aka NPC

I think if i heard correctly, that you have a max numbe of players on a given team and the rest of your team will be made up of AI characters. How many more characters you can have while ingame is still unknown but i would imagine for the PS2 & XBOX that a maximum number would be 48-52 which includes the 16x2 of you and your teammates plus the opposing team. For the PC, obviously it would be more, at the most, 64 characters ingame simultaneously for both teams. But like all things with the game so far, this is pure speculation and not conclusive.

o ok...i understood it incorrectly...i thought it was 16 max meaning 8 v 8, but i geuss i am mistaken and it is 16 max per team so 32 in all (16 v 16)....that sounds a whole lot better. Because from what i was heraing a player can do in the game, i thiought it would be a lot for only 8 people....having 16 on one team makes me even more exciting about this game!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it would be 8vs.8 like on SOCOM 2. I hope it will be 16vs16. That would be aweome. I'll go and read that article on Lucasarts.com again. Maybe I did read it wrong. It would be cool to have like a hundred soldiers on the field. 32 human players and the rest NPC's or AI's.

I agree with dark jedi, ai bots should only be in the offline game. not in the online game. That way we keep the player vs Player concept up instead of Player/computerVs Player/Computer. To make the game look like a real war they should put more stress on the maximum limit of human players.errrr maybe 24 max on consoles. I pay too much for online play on my ps2 . and when i play online i wanna snipe(lol) HUMAN PLAYERS NOT BOTS. It takes the fun out of it. Darn i can play computers on my own time offline and without the expensive dsl provider..........get my drift?? :o

i got a question ,with the xbox version will me and a friend be able to either verse each other or go co op against bots only ,not online? mainly because i dont have xbox live,and can you like be one team ,like the clones,and your friend is on another team like the sepratists and verse each other? thanks

if i understood it correctly....I think there will be a max number of human players 16 for console as i now understand (8 vs 8) and then a number of NPCs.

 

The NPCs will however not be ver good, they will probably take very little damage to die and have low accuracy...but if unchecked can amount a sizable amount of damage. The purpose of the NPCs (to me anyway) will just be there to give a feel off the hugeness of a battle.

 

In a real war this is also the case because you will have a lot of inexperienced fighters (low level privates..."NPCs") and then you will have the experienced soldier (captains and so on..."players")

A while back i thought i read an interview with one of the creators where they said that the AI has been made so that NPC's in a certain area will perform certain actions. If they are in the area where the base or capture point is, they will try to capture it. I think you can also send out orders to capture points and they will act accordingly, unlike battlefield 1942/vietnam where your team kind of stands around or basically commits suicide by jumping into incoming fire. Hopefully this is a feature that is effectively incorporated into the game because i don't always want to go online.
